"Yay!"

"Uh, get back to work." A waiter ordered, passing Kate holding a tray of drinks, mistaking her for a waiter because of her all black suit.

"Yeah, Kate." Ophelia teased moving to stand beside her. "God, such a bad waitress."

"If I had a tray of drinks, I'd throw them at you." Kate scowled playfully and Ophelia laughed softly, pushing back her short curled hair.

"Stop glaring at him." Ophelia said softly.

"I don't like him." Kate grumbled, sighing softly as Ophelia linked their hands, squeezing her hand gently.

"Excuse me dear, would you-"

"Sorry, I'm not a waitress." Kate interrupted the old man that walked over to the pair.

"You're the little Bishop girl." He stated.

"Yes, I am." Kate chuckled awkwardly and Ophelia went to leave. "Don't you dare. Moral support, bitch."

"Armand. Armand Duquesne." He introduced himself.

"Ah." Kate hummed.

"You used to come to my brownstone for brunch." Armand told her.

"Oh, build your own blintz bar." Kate mused and he chuckled.

"Precisely." He nodded. "You know, it's unfair. I never looked that good in a tuxedo in my life. I'd appreciate it if you wear something a little more lady-like for the wedding so we won't be competing."

"Rude and slightly sexist." Ophelia mumbled. "Just wear a black and white suit."

"What wedding?" Kate asked, confused.

"You don't know?" Armand questioned. "Eleanor and Jack. Oh! Those secretive little love birds!"

"Shit." Ophelia swore, looking down at Kate who was staring at Eleanor and Jack.

"Can I offer you some champagne?" A waiter asked.

"Thank you!" Armand beamed. "Believe me, I've done everything in my power to talk him out of it. But when he gets something set in that little mind of his, he can be quite determined."

"Oh." Kate nodded, grip tightening on Ophelia's hand. "Seems like he won the jackpot."

"You think so?" Armand quizzed. "So does he. I'm not so sure."

"Armand, I wanna go home. I'm bored." A child stated, walking over.

"That's no way to talk, Armand. That's not the way you were brought up." Armand chastised. "Come and say hello to Miss Bishop and her friend. Uh, sorry I didn't get your name."

"You didn't ask. Ophelia." She gave them a tight lipped smile.

"Hey." Child Armand said.

"Hello." Both women muttered, stiffly.

"Another Armand, I see." Kate mumbled.

"Yes. I'm Armand the third and he's Armand the seventh." The adult Armand chuckled. "I believe that's quite sufficient. Well, uh, I'm gonna make my excuses because it seems that you need to have a chat with your prize of a mother. Come on, Armand. Come on, boy!"

"Please come with me." Kate whispered nervously. "Moral support?"

"Wha- Why?" Ophelia questioned. "Wouldn't you wanna do this alone?" Kate shook her head rapidly. "No? Okay. Alright. Yeah."

"You're engaged?" Kate asked Eleanor once the pair stoped by their group.

"Oh, well, I guess the beans are out of the bag." Jack grinned.

"Well, can we have a little moment?" Eleanor asked both Ophelia and Jack.

"Oh, of course, it's almost time for my other engagement anyway." Jack nodded. "Bye." He kissed Eleanor.

"Yeah, I'll go... Yeah." Ophelia agreed, giving Kate a soft smile before kissing the back of her hand and walking off.

"Babe, I'm sorry, I'm sorry you found out this way." Eleanor apologised.

"I don't know, Mum, this is just like-" Kate stumbled for words. "Fast."

"Yeah, yeah, it's fast, yes." Eleanor nodded. "But, you know, it kind of nice being swept up in the romance of it. Is there a part of you that could be happy for me?"

"Yes." Kate answered after a pause. "Yes, Mum, of course."

"I'm sorry." Eleanor apologised again, hugging her. "I'm sorry, I wanted to tell you first. I'm sorry."

"I'm gonna go get some air, Mum." Kate pulled back quickly.

"I understand." Eleanor mumbled. "Yeah. Come back and find me, okay?"

"Yeah." Kate mumbled, leaving and Ophelia watched her before following after her.

"Hey." Ophelia smiled lightly at her, Kate leaning on the railings. "I don't know if it'll make you feel better, but I put one of the small quiche things onto someone's head. They're still walking around with it." Ophelia's smile widened when Kate laughed.

"You, uh, you look very nice, Phelia." Kate muttered, averting her eyes from her.

"Thank you. You look stunning, ma chérie." Ophelia beamed down at her before silence took over the both of them and they noticed a dog ahead of them.

"Hi." Kate said to him and the one-eyed dog whimpered. "Heck of a party, huh?"

A car horn honked and the dog ran away leaving Kate confused. Ophelia chuckled at her expression before taking her hand and pulling her back inside, Kate joining her happily. As they walked through, they heard voices; Eleanor and Armand III.

"I should've known that this empire of yours would be built on a lie." Armand hissed.

"By myself from the ground up." Eleanor shot back. "So whatever you think you saw is not true."

"Don't insult my intelligence." Armand scoffed.

"You're frankly insulting us both." Eleanor shot back, Ophelia and Kate now listening.

"I know what I saw." Armand stated.

"You are all just-"

"Don't you try that on me." Armand ordered. "I have you an opportunity to explain yourself."

"I don't want to argue with you." Eleanor said.

"I've got powerful friends, too. The kind you don't want to mess with." Armand threatened.

"Please." Eleanor begged. "Armand! See you at Christmas dinner."

"Mum, what was that about?" Kate asked, revealing herself as Eleanor passed the pair. "Is that guy threatening you?"

"I honestly- I have no idea." Eleanor shook her head. "Why are you lurking in the hallways?"

"We we're outside getting air." Kate explained.

"Come back to the party." Eleanor gestured.

"Okay. Alright." Kate nodded.

"Okay." Eleanor whispered, walking away.

"Be right there." Kate told her.

"Alright." Eleanor responded.

"We're not going back to the party, are we?" Ophelia asked, almost giddy.

"No." Kate denied.

"Yay!"

"Sh!"

"Right, sorry."
