Kate woke up early as she did everyday. She got out of bed, while trying to avoid awakening Chris, who slept soundly beside her. Kate walked downstairs and into the laundry room where she began to fold Meg's clothes so she would have something to wear to school that day. As she was folding Meg's clothes she had noticed a blood stain on the inside of the sleeve of one of her shirts. Kate immediately dropped the shirt and ran upstairs to Meg's bedroom. As Kate reached the top of the stairs she knocked on the door to Meg's bedroom.
"Meg, are you in there? We need to talk." Kate said with a hint of worry in her voice.
-There was no answer-
"Meg, I'm coming in" said Kate.
She pushed open the door softly and walked into the room to see Meg asleep in her bed. Kate walked over to Meg and shook her softly to wake her.
"Kate, what are you doing?"
"We need to talk." She said.
"Uh ok, sure" said Meg. As much as she tried to hide it she new something was up.
Kate held up Meg's shirt she found the blood stain on while folding her clothes.
"What is this?!" Kate asked firmly.
Meg had a blank look on her face then tears started flowing down her cheeks.
"I'm so sorry" Meg said as even more tears fell down her cheeks.
Kate reached over to Meg and gave her a hug as she shoved her face into Kate's shoulder and shed some more tears. "Meg, you should have told me" said Kate.
"I know, I was just so afraid of what you would think. I thought you'd be angry. I'm so sorry." Meg said with a hint of guilt in her voice.
"I'm not all that thrilled that's for sure!" Kate said with just a touch of sarcasm.
"I'm really sorry." Meg said again.
"I know. Why don't you stay home today, Chris has the day off and he'll be here all day to watch you."
"Fine." Meg agreed.
