Before Derek and Penelope walked into the room to speak with Kate and JJ, he pulled her to the side so they could speak for a minute.
" I went to Kate's house first. I remembered that we had found this shirt. I think I'm going to use it and try to help Kate remember." Said Derek.
"You should know something first." She said.
"What is it?" He asked.
"The case were working on. 4 girls who all look similar to Meg. They all self-harmed. We think that's what the conversation was about this morning but we can't be certain." She said as she looked deeply into Derek's eyes.
Derek turned around and walked into the room where JJ and Kate had been talking. JJ and Derek glanced at each other as he walked past her. Derek approached Kate. He then sat down at the foot of the hospital bed with the bloody shirt in his hands. Derek started off talking to Kate slowly and calmly.
"Kate it's me Derek." He said.
"I know." she responded.
"Can you tell me about the conversation you had with Meg this morning?"
"No, I can't remember." Kate answered.
Derek started to get a little more inpatient now.
"Kate, I need you to remember. Why did you have the shirt?!" He asked sounding annoyed.
"I don't know!" She half yelled.
"Kate! Meg is gone! And if you can't help us by remembering what you were talking about you may as well just pronounce her dead!" He yelled at her.
Tears started streaming down Kate's cheeks as Derek got up in a hurry and stormed out of the room.
