"AGAIN!"

"I'm trying!"

"Oh, you're trying hard?"

"Yes."

"Well, I'm sure, Chelsea will appreciate that while kicking the shit out of you again," Sam gave a sly grin.

"I — that's — it's —!" Kira stammered. "...Alright."

"That's what I like to hear," Sam replied. "And if you want to land this kick perfectly, you need to adjust your stance. Shift your body weight and put all your strength in it."

"Yes, Sensei," Kir nodded.

The two of them were inside the dojo and had been practicing for a little over two hours. While Keene and Brandon had been training with Sensei Eli and Demetri respectively in other sections of the dojo. Supposedly so they could each get the one-on-one attention beginners needed.

Kira took a deep breath and as Sensei Sam instructed. And finally... CONTACT!

"I did it!" Kira shouted, happily.

"Was there ever any doubt?" Sensei Sam smirked. "As the song goes: 'You were born for this.'"

"What song's that?" Kira asked with a smile.

"It's by The Score."

"Like a movie score?"

"Never mind," Sensei Sam replied, shaking her head. "Let's see you repeat that kick a few more times, and then we'll work on combining it with some simple defensive blocks."

"Yes, Sensei!"

"I did it!" Anthony shouted triumphantly.

"Take it easy there," said Sam with a small smile. "You've only been practicing for a few weeks."

"Hey, Sensei Chozen says —!"

"I don't care what he says," Sam sighed. "You never get overconfident. As Sensei Lawrence taught me — just when you think you have everything, the world will try to take it from you. So, you need to be prepared for the next time Kenny attacks."

"Sure you're not just still pissed off about losing to —!"

"Hey, dipshit, stop running your damn mouth and listen to your sister!"

Sam grinned.

"Sensei!"

"Good to see you too," Johnny replied with a smile. "Must be hard being the only badass around this place."

"You don't know the half of it," Sam laughed. Then, her expression faltered. "Did you find...?"

"Me?"

Miguel entered the garden of Miyagi-Fang quietly with a faint, yet anxious smile. "Hey, Sam. I just wanted to say..."

Sam ran over and threw her arms around Miguel's neck, kissing him softly.

"...Uh, wow," Miguel smiled.

"I'm just glad you're home," Sam grinned. "But if you ever leave like that again... I will kill you."

"Oh, well, that's obvious," Miguel laughed.

"Did everything go okay?" Sam asked.

"Not too great," said Miguel, before giving Sensei Lawrence a smile. "But a lot better than it could have been. Thanks to Sensei and..."
