We wake Maya up with a song, and she claps excitedly. We decorated the house yesterday, and she loves it. I kiss her goodbye before running to school.
At school, I can't stop staring at James. He looks way too good. I'm going to cry.
After the last lesson, I run back home for Maya's party.
She's very happy with her wand and immediately starts casting spells, some of them being unforgivable. I put my hands up, playing along. She is so adorable, I literally can't.
She's also very happy with the doll. I thank God that James agreed on helping me, and promise to thank him again later.
Maya eats the cake in about two minutes, her face covered in chocolate. It's precious, and I take a picture as a memory.
After playing for approximately three hours, I run to my room. I love Maya, but I need some alone time, and I need to study. But first, I text James.
Lucy
Hey! Thanks again for helping me pick out the presents, Maya loved them :)
He replies quite quickly.
James
I'm happy to hear that! Happy birthday to her!
I like his message and start studying.
At night, I kiss Maya goodnight and read her a chapter of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. That's my favorite because it's the first appearance of Sirius. He's so dramatic, I love it. It's also Maya's favorite, so that's convenient, I guess.
"Happy birthday," I whisper before leaving her room.
The next day, my parents tell me at breakfast that in two days, they're leaving for Hawaii for a week. They're reliving their youths right now, which is kind of annoying, but good for them, you know.
So I will have to take care of Maya for a week. I do not have time for that! Should I just call a babysitter, maybe? I don't know. I'm freaking out.
I decide not to think about it until my parents leave.
The two days are boring, and nothing really happens.
The day my parents leave, they tell me to look out for Maya. That's all. Nothing about me. Oh, except that they told me to do good in school. How caring they are.
As soon as they leave, I run to my room and tell Maya to come with me so that I can keep an eye on her. I study and study.
When I kiss her goodnight, I go to my room and get ready for bed, but I can't sleep. I am way too afraid that something is going to happen and I keep seeing shapes in the dark. I turn and turn, and eventually, I text James.
Lucy
Hey.
James
Hey... Will this become a habit? You texting me at midnight?
Lucy
Perhaps.
I take a deep breath.
Lucy
Could you come over? My parents are out of town and I'm kind of scared.
James
Ofc, ill be there in a few mins.
I finally breathe again. He's going to be here in a few minutes. There's no need to be scared. It's going to be fine.
After 15 minutes of waiting and seeing figures with too many teeth in the dark, I finally see him pull over and step out of the car. I wave to him from the window, and he smiles back, the cold air having turned his cheeks red.
I run downstairs and open the door.
"Come in," I whisper. "Maya's sleeping, so we have to be quiet."
"Sure," he smiles, and we walk up to my room.
"This is your room?" he asks as he looks around.
"Yeah. Do you like it?"
He spots my bookshelf. "Aaah, you have so many books!" He looks at all of them. "You've read War and Peace?" he gasps.
"Yeah. I was 10, I think."
He looks at me. "Wow. My admiration for you grows every day." I feel that I'm blushing. He suddenly seems very flustered and turns back to the bookshelf. When he spots my Harry Potter books, he smiles. "You're a Slytherin?"
"Yes. You?"
He grins. "Take a wild guess, Canmore."
I can't help but smile. "Now, let's see. Your name is James, you are stupidly brave, you think you're amazing, you're a Sagittarius..." My smile disappears and I shoot him a sarcastic look. "I bet you're a Hufflepuff."
He laughs like an idiot, and I hate that that makes me smile. "Gryffindor."
"Oh, wow," I say, acting as if I'm surprised. "I would not have thought that."
He laughs again.
"Well, Slytherin and Gryffindor. I guess we were meant to hate each other," I say.
He smiles, but it seems a bit ingenuine. Why?
He walks around my room, studying every inch, every little painting or poster, asking me about them. For a few minutes, I am perfectly happy, and I wouldn't trade this moment for any other.
"Ah, there's Taylor!" he says when he sees my poster. "I must admit, she's really pretty."
"Duh." I walk up to the poster and study it. It's one from the Evermore era (my favorite album). She looks so cute in this. I mean, she always looks cute, but especially here.
"Not as pretty as you, though."
I stop breathing. Was that just a genuine compliment? I don't remember when he last gave me one. Also, he thinks I'm prettier than Taylor Swift? The Queen? I don't agree with it, but honestly, I don't know if I mind that as a compliment. It's probably the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me.
"Kiss me," I whisper.
He smiles, cups my face in his hands, and kisses me, gentle as ever.
After a while, we go to sleep. He kisses my forehead before dozing off. I fall asleep almost instantly as he puts his arms around me, and I dream of a life together in a small apartment in Paris, and falling asleep in his arms every night. I don't exactly understand why I dream that considering that it's incredibly unrealistic and also most definitely and not at all my wish (I swear!), but it is really nice, and I don't really want the dream to end.
A/N Omg I just noticed I made a little mistake... James is not a Leo, lol. But I corrected it, haha. Sorry! also what do u guys think about the story?! I'm so curious!
