I was standing by the trees when I saw Summer talking to Sherlock and involuntarily squealed. The Doctor, who was near me, looked at me in surprise.
"What? What's wrong?" he asked, looking a little worried.
"Oh, nothing." I said, smiling. "I just really want those two to get together."
I gestured toward Sherlock and Summer. The Doctor saw and smiled, laughing a little.
"They would be perfect together." he agreed.
"I know, right?" I laughed a little, too. "So does John."
I had told Sherlock's friend about Summer's crush on Sherlock, and John told me that Sherlock had similar feelings.
Okay, so his exact words were, 'inconclusive pangs of emotion'. It's close enough for me to play matchmaker and try to get them together.
The Doctor and I started talking. I'm pretty sure we didn't even notice that we were getting closer and closer.
After a while, I realized how close we were and that we had stopped talking. I started to blush and back away, but something stopped me. Our lips started getting closer, and closer, and-
We jumped back from each other when we heard a thump, both of us blushing furiously. I was the one who saw the person lying on the ground first.
"Oh my gosh, are you okay?" I asked, hurrying over to help whoever it was up. Except they were limp.
At first, I thought they were passed out for some reason. But as I walked around to check for any damage, I saw that their face was frozen in an unmistakeable look of terror.
Hands shaking, I checked for a pulse. Except there was none.
There was suddenly a very loud scream. When it had stopped, I had a scratchy throat. Oh. It was me who screamed.
My breath was coming in ragged bursts. Was I hyperventalating?
"Gabi! Gabi!" someone was shouting at me. It sounded as if it were coming from the end of a long tunnel. Coincidentally, I had tunnel vision, and could only see the dead body lying there.
Someone had my head in their hands and turned it towards them. The Doctor.
"Gabi, calm down. You need to calm down. Your hyperventalating." the Doctor said calmly.
"Dead body. There's a dead body." I heard myself repeating over and over.
"Gabi, please calm down." the Doctor pleaded. Slowly, I nodded. It took what felt like forever, but I finally manged to get my breathing under control.
The Doctor, relieved, gave me a hug. His chin rested on top of my head. It lasted only a few seconds, then he pulled away to wipe tears off my cheeks.
I didn't realize that I was crying.
"Someone call 999." Summer said, getting out of the lake following Sherlock and John. No one moved. "Now!" Summer yelled. That startled someone into action.
Sherlock and John went over to their discarded shirts and both brought out a pair of white disposeable gloves.
"Sherlock likes to be prepared, just in case." John explained, seeing my look. Seriously, though. Who plans for murder at a party?
Sherlock handed a pair to Summer who pulled her hair back first before putting them on. Then all three went examining the body.
Honestly, it was actually pretty cool. I'm positive I would have been amazed if I wasn't still getting over from the shock of seeing a dead body.
