"Honey, wake up. You get to pick Jackson up from school today since you're doing nothing for the rest of the day." Jackson is my little brother. He and I are the best of siblings but he is always either at school or asleep. We don't get alot of bonding time but when we do, we take full advantage of it.

I walk toward the shower to decide if I should shower or not and decide that I probably shouldn't. I mean, I already did last night and I'm pretty sure I didn't get dirty  between dreams. I brush my teeth and brush my hair up into a high ponytail. After getting a pair of sweat pants and a random band shirt on, I grabbed my keys and head to my car. Yup, mama's got a car. It's not fancy and all, it's just a burgundy Honda Accord.
No, burgundy is not the same as red. There's a difference. Burgundy is better looking.

"Drive safe. I'll be home a little late today. I already called Lauren and scheduled for Nolan and his little sister, Naomi to come over for a play date." She grins at me.

"YOU LET THE SPAWN OF SATAN WELCOME TO OUR HOUSE?" I yelled. Her grin got wider.

"Don't yell at me young lady, this will be good. You'll see. Now go, you're already five minutes late on picking Jackson up." She got in her car and applied red lipstick which made her look even more sophisticated and brilliant, even though you could tell she is just by looking at her. Dad was gone off on a business trip and the house grows a little quieter every time he does, which makes me sad.
Just great, now I get to spend the day with someone I hate. At least Jackson will have a friend to show his room and toys to. That doesn't happen very often for him. I hop in my car and drive off to his school.

"Good afternoon ma'am. Which child are you here to pick up?" The clerk asks.

"I'm Jackson Stone's sister."

"Okay. Give me a second." She smiles warmly, leaving the counter. My eyes roam the lobby, skipping over several paintings and letters that the little kids did. There was one painting that had a picture of what was supposed to be a unicorn eating pizza. How adorable..
"Kat?" Jackson's voice tore my eyes off the painting. A huge grin came across my face as he ran toward me.

"Kat, why are you here? Where's mommy?" He asked.

"I'm staying home today so we get to hang out." I said hugging him.

"Before you leave, can you just sign this really quickly to justify that you picked him up." The clerk smiled at me. I nodded happily.

"Sure." I took the pen and signed my signature. I then took Jackson's hand in mine and pulled him into the back of my car. I reached for the seatbelt when he stopped me.

"I can do it myself, see." He says. He reaches for the belt and wrapped it around his lap and pushed it down until he heard the click. "See, see I told you." He grinned goofily. I nodded, slapping him a high-five.

"Good job, Jack."

"Thanks." He lifts his chin, proudly. I giggle and climb in the driver's seat.
I pull up into the driveway and Jack bounced out of the car. We joined hands again and he lead me toward the door. I quickly opened the door so that he could get in.

"Ahh. No, don't get me! You can't get me!" A small voice screamed. Jack and I stood still. Pulling Jack behind myself, I took out the first thing my fingers touched in my purse. It was a bag of skittles. Okay, not so bad for a weapon. I heard footsteps come forward and a face suddenly emerged from behind the kitchen wall. It was.. a little girl. What? She had a cute little grin on her face and she ran into my legs and wrapped her skinny arms around my frame. She looked about Jack's age. She was hiding. Suddenly a growl made all three of us squeal. I shut my eyes and threw the bag of skittles. Suddenly, a fit of laughter erupted from both the little girl and the arrogant jerk in front of me. How did he even get in my house?
