I walk through the hallway, minding my own buisness when someone bumped into me. My items fall from my arms and unto the floor.

I bend to pick them up when someone irritated said, "Watch where you're going, klutz."

"Klutz?" I repeat, not looking up at the person just yet. I scramble to grab everything, still not knowing who I'm talking to.

"I'm not a klutz, you are. You need to watch where you're going next time." I stand up and finally face the person. To my utter surprise, Nolan, the new guy, was staring down at me. I learned his name when he showed up to my 8th period class and the over-head speakers called him to the office angrily. Seems like he's already very comfortable in Westclear High.

"Excuse me?" He asked. Knowing myself, I know I would shy away at situations like this but something in me didn't want to, for once.

"You heard me. It was your fault my items fell. You weren't paying attention." I exclaimed. In one swift motion, I was pinned against the wall of the hallway. Okay, so maybe speaking up for myself wasn't the best decision I've made.

"Look, I don't know who you think you are but you can't talk to me like that." He growled. His chest was crushing my own.
His cologne hit my nose and my heart started beating viciously in my chest as I prepared to let my comeback slip through my lips.

"Watch me." I gritted my teeth, knowing my limits but ignoring them. He doesn't reply, he just stares at me and I shift uncomfortably under his gaze.

"Is she bothering you?" Victoria places her hand on Nolan's shoulder.
He proceeds his intense gaze on me, ignoring her.

"You don't want to associate yourself with people like her, trust me." She says. Her eyes meet my own and I look down when I notice the glance she is throwing my way. It's not a warning glance anymore. It's a glance saying she wont let this slide. I place my hand on Nolan's chest and push him slightly, the problem being he didn't move. He only continued staring, which was starting to creep me out.

"Please just leave me alone." I pleaded with him.

He leaned closer to my ear and whispered, "What if I don't want to? I mean, you are the one who keeps getting my attention."

"I DON'T want your attention. I WANT you to leave me alone." I say, hoping to get my message through to him. With that, I push him away. But before I get two steps away, Victoria pulls my shoulder back.

"Didn't I warn you?" She growls. I walk up to her in a threatening way and I knew it was a mistake. Her eyes got very small and she looked threatened. Before I got any closer, she punches me in the face. I stumble backwards, holding my nose. She takes advantage of my state to push me on the floor and straddle me. She starts to punch me and all I could do was put my arms up to my face in defense. I groan in pain every time her hands connect to my body. I felt my hands getting weak. Suddenly, she was pulled off me. My face was probably swollen and I could hear her screaming for the person to put her down. An arm wrapped around my legs and back and I was lifted to a strong chest. Expecting it to be Zach, I snuggled my face into the chest of my savior and sobbed quietly.

"What are you doing, Nolan?" Victoria's voice erupts through my ears and I cautiously look up. To my complete and utter surprise, it was Nolan. His face was hard and a look that favored anger held his features. I wiped my tears and pushed myself out of his arms. I stood up but my feet gave in. He caught me before I fell and whispered to me.

"Let me help you." His voice was soft, almost like he cared.

"N-no. Leave me alone." I steadied myself before trying to walk off again. Victoria jumps on me and whips my head around with a powerful punch. I fell to the floor. This time I hit my head on the tiles and blacked out.

I ignored Victoria's calls. She is so annoying, I hit on her once, thinking she would be an easy catch and of course, she gave into me. I mean, who wouldn't. I'm sexy. But she seriously has a problem. Picking people up during a fight isn't something I usually do but yet I was way to the nurse's office led by a short kid who was in my history class. I look down at her limp body as I jog down the hall way. When I get there, I place her on the closest bed and start to explain to the nurse what happened but she seemed to already know. Hmm.. does she come in here that often? Is she getting bullied that constantly? The nurse takes off Kat's- as I've heard people call her- jacket and placed two fingers on her wrist. I was surprised to see that her arm had huge claw marks. No.. I know those marks too much. She.. cuts.

"Uhm, go.. go call the ambulance. Her pulse is low and.." The nurse staggered to get through the sentence. She frowned when she looked over Kat's wrist again. I did as told and called the ambulance.

I wiggled my nose. Without opening my eyes, I sneezed. A light chuckle sounded from across the room. I recognize that chuckle anywhere. Zach. My eyes opened faster than necessary and I bolted off the bed to get to him but landed on the floor. I ran my fingers through my hair while puffing out a huge breath of air.

"Woah there, you okay?" Zach helped me up.

"Yes. You scared me. Shouldn't you be packing?" I asked. He shook his head, saddened with the thought.

"You're in the hospital and you're asking about me?" He asked as we climbed into the bed. I nodded with a grin. He leaned in and placed a kiss on my lips, very slowly. My second kiss. I smiled but then realization dawns over me, causing my smile to fade.

"You're leaving tomorrow." I pouted.

"Yes, but that's tomorrow. This is today." He whispered, pulling me closer to him. The doctor took that as her cue to enter. She smiled warmly at me and I found myself returning it.

"Hello there, Katherine" She said, walking over to me.

"Hi." I was a bit shy.

"Do you know what happened to you?" She asked. I nodded, I remembered clearly. Images of Victoria punching me flooded through my brain. Nolan, he.. he tried to help but I refused to let him. The funny thing being he seemed so sincere. The nurse nodded.

"Great, your concussion isn't too bad." She said. Wait, what?! Concussion? Holy Guacamole.

"Concussion?" My eyes grew wide. She nodded, a frown playing her lips.

"Yes, I'm afraid so. But not to worry, you'll be able to go back to school next week." She said. I nodded, dismissing her.
I sneezed as Zach's cologne hit my nose. Hmm, not my favorite scent. I couldn't help but remember Nolan's fragrance.

"Looks like someone has the sniffles." He says, rubbing his nose against mine.

"Yeah. I do." Sitting here in his arms reminded me of the unspoken questions about us.

"Zach, what are we doing?" I ask, knowing that I had just took a leap of faith with our friendship. He leaned away slightly.

"I really like you, Kat." He says.

"I thought you liked Maddi. You two would always sneak glances at each other." I stutter a bit.

"No. It wasn't like that. I had always tried to build up the courage to ask you out and she would help me but now.. I'm too late." He pouts.

"There's always skype." I say.

"Yes, every night." I snuggle into his arms, holding my sneeze this time.

"Zach, I'm going to miss you." I look up at him.

"I'm going to miss you more." He replied. Right there, my eyes all of a sudden droop, even though I had just woken up, I felt worn out and had a slight headache.
