POV Hunter

It was strange how Claire, Lindsay and Jo left so suddenly, but I just brushed it off. Though I didn't really have any strong emotions for Lindsay, like love, like any other teenage boy I was bound to get hot and bothered by a girl like her , quite attractive in the barbie girl sort of way, grinding on my lap practically.

Still outside, Jeff turned his attention to me.

" Dude..." He began cautiously.

" What the hell is that on your leg man?" He pointed to a trail of toilet paper flakes on my pant leg. Oh my... Deciding words would not suffice what I was feeling right now I just shrugged him off and sat silently.

After what seemed like 20 minutes later class was going to definitely start soon. On the speakers I heard Jo's name being called. Claire was making her way towards us with Lindsay and Lindsay seemed a bit flustered. Claire walked over to Hank and ran her fingers through his buzz cut. He just stared into her eyes and twirled a piece if her fiery Irish red hair with his fingers. They both looked genuinely happy and I couldn't help but to envy Hank for having such a lucky break yet feel happy that at least they did get the chance to find love so young.

Most likely he would end up marrying this girl and they would tell there grandchildren of how they were high school sweet hearts. As girly as this sounds, sometimes I worry i'll never find someone to be the Claire to my Hank. That was a bit of a strange analogy but I'm sure you understand what I mean.

It was okay that we were late for first period because it was our free period. Our foot ball coach , Coach McLean said he wanted all of his cheerleaders and players to get good night sleep. I didn't argue with him about it though.

"So how is Lindsay man?" Jeff stated with a smirk.

Giving him a pointed look I told him , " Fine." Jeff knew I didn't like talking about my relation ships at all. I viewed relationships as something that should be kept personal. People like Lindsay however felt the need to tell the world of any late night make out sessions or romantic gestures. I don't know. Some people were just weird like that. Jeff understood this though. He was always just a big kid at heart.

"So how was it like passionately kissing that French fry?" I said to Jeff. Embarrassment flooded his face and he looked down mumbling, " You know what really happened."

I smiled even wider and said,

" What did you say? You liked kissing that French fry? Okay man! I accept you as you but even that is a little weird."

I paused as if to think to my self.

" I mean, if you feel a connection to a French fry... By all means! Kiss all the French fries. Better yet! Kiss a potato! That would be like kissing the mother of all French fries!"

I knew I was acting stupid but Jeff was hilarious to mess with and easy to bug.

He got the point and said ,"I'll drop the relationship subject."

We were walking through the halls like normal when we saw one of our old friends who quit the team a while back after going through a " hard break up." All I know is what ever happened to this guy changed him.

Any ways, he looked torn like he had the day he distanced himself from us and on top of that he looked confused , scared, and even a bit guilty. He was still once a friend so I went up to him and Jeff followed behind.

" Hey Dax." Daxton looked at us and shock coursed within him. Still stunned he said

" Hey Hunt.Jeff. Uhh- what are you guys doing here?" He looked skeptical and unsure. I sighed.

"You look like you've seen a ghost and you are our - "

I cleared my throat forgetting for a second.

" - were one of your close friends. Either way we were checking if you were okay?" After running this through his mind. He sighed and gained a distant look In his eye.

" uhh. Yeah. I'm okay I guess. Thanks man. I haven't been a very good friend have i."

Jeff spoke up after mock laughter.

" Dude. That's a understatement. It was always me. You. Hunter. And Hank. We were all going to go big. See each other live our lives and be happy. WHAT THE HELL WENT THROUGH YOUR MIND WHEN ... " Jeff stopped speaking entirely. Instead of continuing to blow up he stated,

" I miss you bro. Everyone does." Jeff looked sad. I normally avoided talking about this to him because he got sad and a sad Jeff equals sad everyone.

Daxton at a loss for words said nothing. Finally he spoke up.

" I may or may not eat all of your food later on. Hope your mom packed something good and I hope my seat is still tidy for when I reclaim my spot at the table." He said with a smile.

I smiled at this too. I felt like Daxton would get along with Jo. Hopefully not to well, but... Friendly. Not that it mattered to me if he would end up liking her more then a friend. Shaking the last thought off the idea I recovered. It was good having a friend back.

" Welcome back to the dark side my friend." I said. Strange how things work out.
