The day was warmer. Katherine's funeral was a small one. She didn't have any friends, only enemies. Jake was the only one who attended the funeral.

"This is the box that you asked me to bring. That woman lived in my house and I allowed her for it. I remember every single thing she did." Katherine's compulsion ended when she died. "Ms Kaly, today is her funeral. At death, everyone should be at peace."

"Why would you ask me to bring this box?" "Katherine didn't told me much of her past life, but she did told me about her daughter who died. This box has her daughter's dress." Jake opened the box to find an old dress filled with musty smell and stains of blood and oldness. He put the dress with the corpse of Katherine in her coffin.

The funeral ended. The headstone read,
        'Katherine Pierce, a friend, a mother and a resilient woman'.

Jake looked at Katherine's headstone for one last moment and left.

Someone else was watching the funeral intendly. When Jake left he came forward. He remembered the things that happened when he decided to kill Katherine centuries ago.

But when she became a vampire and escaped before the ritual took place, he was furious with her. The only person whom he truly loved betrayed him. That day he took the vow to find her and punish her for breaking his heart. But he never intended to kill her. He wanted her to be terrified of him. He tried finding her for centuries, but every time she would slip past him. When finally he found her, she was madly in love with another man. He was angry and he wanted to kill him. So he asked both of them to chose one of them to live. He wanted his Katerina to realise that Jake would never die for her. But he was ready to die for her and now his beloved his dead. He don't wish to kill Jake now, because he now know what Katerina saw in Jake, he protected her no matter what.

"I am sorry Katerina. I wanted to have a life with you. You never understood my love and now you are dead. I wish I never did all these. I should have told you that I do not intend to kill you centuries ago. Now it is too late. Forgive me luv, for breaking your heart then and for denying your life now." His words were merely whispers and the tears streaming down his face clouded his eyes.

"I love you always and forever Katerina." He placed a bouquet of red flowers and left.
