For the next few days, Katherine Pierce did the same old dance clubs followed by hunting men. Everyday she was there at the club, her eyes would wander off to find the man who tried to save her- Jake. She hated herself for it.

So whenever her eyes darted off to look for Jake, she would choose someone from the club to feed. Her feeding techniques are usual. For years, she didn't know to control her hunger, but now she could control it. But she still feeds for fun. She would feed from someone that she chose until they are on the verge of death, then she erases the incident from their mind and takes on the next victim. At times, if someone irritates her, she drains the whole blood, thus, killing them.

Once, a waiter ignored her, when she tipped him less. So she waited until he was free and then killed him. Another time, she was waiting for a cab and when a cab stopped, another woman got in instead of her, the woman too was killed.

One day, when she was walking through the park, she found a bench and sat there. The view from the bench was that of a fountain. She could hear a teenage couple making out in the far end of the park, an elderly couple holding hands while walking and a family with a beautiful little girl. 𝑀𝑦 𝑑𝑎𝑢𝑔ℎ𝑡𝑒𝑟. She brushed off a tear flowing down her cheek.

Then she got up to see Jake standing behind a tree texting on his phone. She wanted to walk away without meeting him, but she also wanted to know to whom he was so intendly texting. So she slowly walked towards him, "Girlfriend". At first, Jake didn't understand it, but then he said, "Oh, No, No, I am just texting my friend." Katherine smiled. "Do I know you? I am sorry but you look familiar." Katherine let out a sigh,"That is one of the pickup lines that guys use. I am not interested in these silly questions." And then she walked away from him.

She went to a coffee shop the next day and she found Jake sipping a cold coffee. She went to a bar at night and she found Jake drinking bourbon. She went to a dance club and she saw Jake dancing merrily to the beats. She went to buy clothes and he was there. She knew that he was following her. But does he remember her killing those men ?

So the next day, when she went to the park, she was sure that she would see him. When she sat on the bench, she could sense someone walking to her. She stood up to see Jake standing near to the tree. "Well, hi, it's good to see you again, here." "That is a funny thing Jake, because for the past few days, wherever I go, I see you. Now I need you to tell me why you are following me or you are going to suffer." She looked fierce but Jake didn't seem to be bothered by it.

"I know what you are." That sentence terrified her. How did her compulsion not work? If he knows about it, then that means, he may have confided in someone else. Maybe there is a whole crew of people waiting to kill her.

"I didn't tell anyone if that is what you are thinking. I was just curious." "So you know what I am?" "Yes, you are Katherine Pierce, a vampire." "You are not terrified and no one who knows the real me would dare to stand before me."

"I am different then. I know you won't hurt me." Katherine let out a small laugh. "And why would you think that?" "You had the chance to kill me but you saved me." "Because I thought my compulsion would work on you. It seems as if it didn't work so I choose to kill you."

"No, just wait." He showed her his fingers and pointed at the ring on his hand. "This is made with vervain. A gift from my family. I didn't know what it did. But after you saved me, I went and researched and..." "It saved you from my compulsion." Jake nodded.

"During my research, I found out that you are a vampire. So I began to track you down just to see you and maybe thank you for saving my life." Katherine nodded. "This research, what did you refer from? Internet don't have the details of vervain and your parents gifted you with a ring made with vervain. That means they know about Vampires."

"I think they do, I found it in my family's journals. According to that, the Stribs family were vampire hunters back then." "So we are born enemies." "I don't know about that. It is my family not me who are vampire hunters."

"Look, I knew about you for a lot of days, and I didn't tell anyone about it. I don't wish to harm you, Katherine." "You are born as a vampire hunter, your first instinct would always be to kill a vampire. You can't stop that and become a friend to a vampire."

Jake held Katherine's hands and said, "I know, but I can't stop being close with a vampire. The first day I met you at the club, it was like a magnet pulled me to you. When I wanted to see you, I knew where to find you. I don't know how I know that but I followed you because I could know where you will be." "You want me to spare your life and to not erase your memories." "Yes, but I promise you if you ever need my death, I would happily agree to it. But now, I just need to be with you."

"Fine, but you owe me. If you ever confide in anyone about my true self, I am going to kill you and them." Jake nodded.

Although Katherine wanted to take out his ring and compel him. She couldn't think about Jake forgetting her. She trusted him. It had been years since she stopped trusting anyone. Whenever she trusted someone, they breaks her trust along with her heart. Maybe this is a good beginning and she could have a happy life at least for a few days.

Her happiness won't last long as she stopped running. The one that she fears the most was on his way to Mystic Falls to punish her for what she did. Klaus was on his way to Mystic Falls.
