Is everything alright?

The text message you sent early this morning has still received no response and paired with your thoughts, there's something that seems off about the situation.

But you don't even know him to judge right?

If it weren't for the subject matter of their last conversation, and the frequency he usually texts you, you would chalk it up to your anonymous sender just being too busy to talk with you.

It feels like more than that, though.

Picking up your phone from the armrest, you read over what you sent for the billionth time. The first message had just been a regular greeting, but after going hours without a response, you couldn't keep from sending more.

No response.

After some time, there was a buzzing beneath your pillow pulls you out of a dream.

It takes you a second to both place the sound, and discern the reason for it, your eyes fastened shut, eyebrows furrowed. Vaguely, you remember mindlessly scrolling through social media before you fell asleep last night, and she must've forgotten to return your cell phone to your nightstand before you lost consciousness.

Another sound was heard from your phone.

Releasing a sleepy sigh that floats up to the ceiling of your bedroom. You squeeze your eyes shut tighter, unable to muster the motivation to get up just yet, and rolls over, attempting to return to the world of dreams. But the phone vibrates again, a reminder that she still hasn't checked the new message.

Grumbling to yourself, you stick your hand under the cushion, feeling around for the object, figuring if someone felt the need to send you a text this early.

...

Jay's pov.

"Niki, I'll be going for a walk" I voiced, informing him that he'll be out for a while.

While the other just groaned from his heavy sleep," inform us if anything happens"

The leader said leaning back on the concrete wall of our penthouse and crunching an apple. "You have your phone with you?"

"I do, Jungwon. Don't worry" at the words leaving my lips, I made my way out leaving the guys there, some asleep and some trying to make sure that everything is going smooth.

He takes that second bite and crunches it slowly. We'd just had the chance to have some rest. They passed two weeks celling the drugs we buy lately. It was a huge amount of drugs, but also with the huge amount of dollars dripping on our heads.

And because the other gangs tried to steal from us many times, we should be on our best attention every time.

Now, walking on the streets of the city. Finally, I had some time to catch my breath.

I had walked these streets my whole life, know them just the same as if they were etched in my head with a sharp knife, scored in deep like some strange work of art. These are the streets I grew up on and for the most part, I'm calm here, at home, on the down-low with a steady heartbeat.

Not tonight though. Tonight my heart wants out of my chest. It wants to be beat free of its cage. It sounds like it's going to crack a rib.

By the way, they don't rush at me en-masse I know my reputation hasn't preceded me.

Either the gangs give me wide beth or go wholesale until they're all dead or running away. All they see is a target they want to erase.

Bringing my phone from my pockets, I noticed a hundred notifications popping out from the screen. It was something usual for my sight, but the message I received from the mysterious doctor was not usual, at all.

Are you alright?

Now, I couldn't have imagined that she was someone who will care or have cared anyways. But truth to be told, I know that behind the cold facade she gives, there was always a dark past or a dark person.

Typing her my response, I replied to her last message.

When I tried to put my phone back. I started hearing footsteps walking towards me. And by the number of the taps, it wasn't just one.

"Fuck!"

Before I can react, I felt someone hit me with something hard on my head, the fact that made me lose my balance for little seconds.
"Cowards, So you came to attack again, you coward. You come from the behind. You are so pathetic."

Seeing their discarded faces, I take this opportunity to grab one's wrist and twist it behind my back locking him in place.

There were five of them. And I don't know where I started punching them until I get the taste of blood on my tongue. Managing some other punches on their cascades, I got to take down two of them. But still, I had three more to unbalance.

For a second, I think I have the upper hand but I should've known that the enemy never played fair.  I hiss when the small knife enters my side sending searing pain throughout my abdomen. "Look who's the pathetic right now"

I see the others angrily looking on seemingly like they were going to jump in.

When the enemy stabbed me I had let him go while my vision darkened with clouds.

It was suffocating.

I was left there tired.

Pained.

Stabbed.

And Bled out.
