Love heals our brains
Jay remembered how it felt, waking up. How he had all these wires and tubes coming out of his chest and arms, and how, as he looked around the room, there was no one there. He was tied to the bed; he dozed offshortly after noticing Tat was standing next to him when he woke up again, watching as she waited for him come to consciousness.
His surgery was a success.
He smiles at Tat, his eyes moving to the tombstone. "Dr. Han was surprised by your resistance towards the sickness you know?" Tat said smiling to Jay.
"You're doing more than enough already. I'm sure he doesn't have magical hands. I'll get treated back and we'll still get our lifetime." Jay said.
"Nothing going to happen to this guy, I know it," Nikki voiced making Jay turn to his direction as he just realized his presence.
"You are here?" Jay asked still feeling dizziness from all the sedatives he went with throught the surgery. "Of course, all of us were here during the surgery Jay" Nikki explained making a faint smile drew on Jay's lips.
All of them were here. For him.
He knows it's a bleak promise but he hopes to god that he lives through it. There is nothing more he wants than their lifetime together. It would break their hearts for him if that doesn't happen.
"You're going to fight through this." Tat states, sounding confident and she smile at him, nodding.
"It should be evident from our arguments now that I don't like losing."
She laughs at his comment, and she knows that as long as she have him by her side, he would fight through anything to wake up to his face in thebmorning, to hear that sound for as long as her heart beats for him.
"I just want you to be okay."
"I want the same for you." He gives her a small smile. "It's breaking my heart to see you like this."
She wish she could hug him but she know his body wouldn't allow her that much movement right now so she just give his hand a light squeeze. "I'm fine,"
"Fine." She grumbles, shaking his head. "I'm so sorry I can't get you anything."
He shrugs. "It's okay. Just a couple of more hours. Is it okay if I try to sleep? I'm feeling like I would puke otherwise."
"Of course, love. Do you want me to leave?"
"Never." He tighten his hold on his hand as he closes his eyes, letting the sleep take over.
When he wakes up again, he threw a huge tantrum over wanting water because it had been couple of hours and the Nurse still wouldn't allow. Dr Han visited him and let the nurse give him water along with some soup because he can only take liquid diet for a while.
After the doctor left, silence filled the room. Tat was still sitting in the same position she was in whilst looking down at her hands. He was looking at her while she was in her deep thoughts.
"What are you thinking about Tat?"
Silence.
"I love you Jay," Tat voiced through the silence, shaking it with her voice.
The vulnerability makes him nervous. Every part of him believes that she loves him as he says he does, but that doesn't mean that she feels comfortable throwing all caution to the wind.
Telling him how she feels gives him a weapon to hurt her with.
Nonetheless, she can tell that he needs it right now and she was in no place to keep it hidden any longer.
"Tatiana?"
"I love you," She probes again.
He blinks once, twice, three times as he tries to make sense of her change in conversation. Is she really going to drop it just like that?
Opening his mouth once more to argue, he snaps it. She pressed her fingers unknowingly to her lips at the remembrance of his kiss.
She remembered the shock of electricity that coursed through her body at the memory of hisnfingers at the nape of her neck and the way his mouth invaded her own. She had never been kissed by a man and the sheer exhilarated feeling left her breathless and shaken, even now as she remembered the abrupt intimacy.
She had expected fear and revulsion but in fact his kiss had flared a spark of inquisitiveness.
If another man were to kiss her, would she feel the same jolt of heat and liveliness? She had never been so aware of a man except in that defining moment when he had kissed her.
She struggled with tears for she couldn't imagine the magnitude of his heartache and grief that he kept so tightly concealed.
"I love you too," Jay breathed. "Come here", Jay mentioned her to come to him while she was thinking about how his kiss. Standing up she walked towards him to him make her sit beside him on the hospital bed.
She looked up at him.
Jay's watery smile makes her heart swell, and his timid nod has her pushing his face into her chest once more. When she does not try to argue with her once more, a soft smile spreads across her face.
He shifted his body until he lay facing the side where the lovely smell of lavender drifted sweetly into his senses.
I love you.
She said it.
Those three words meant so much to her. The last time someone she 5old someone she loves him was with her mother.
"I love you, Tat." he whispered, voice so weak. His face was pale, as he looked as if all the energy he had inside him had been strained.
She bits her lower lip, as she pressed her lips against Jay's. His lips molded into hers, as he kissed her back. Everything seemed to fit in place, as his arms snaked around her waist, pulling her in closer to his body. She wrapped her arms around his neck, as he continued to kiss her, trying not to press so much.
His hands were everywhere, from the small of her back, or tangled into her thick hair.
When they finally pulled away, Jay's eyes were shining and his lips were rosy red from kissing so much. But, he could say the same for her, as well. She could feel herself smiling like an idiot, as Jay lets out a low laugh.
Never had his mind or body lingered on one particular woman for such a prolonged time.
"You are my reason," she paused, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, "You are my reason to live Jay,"
In a world of endemic sickness, where cruelty is the cause and love the antidote, the patients declare themselves doctors and seal the fate of the world.
Love heals our brains, without such we are like permanent partial-drunks thinking ourselves fully sober.
The end
Two more epilogues left!
Comment if you liked this story, as I said before I know it's not a good good ffc. But I just want to shed some light on depressed life and the doctor's one. Just to not forget that anyone had a dark side inside of him witch is trying to heal, but it needs someone to take its hand and step together out from the dark.
And it doesn't mean that every story has to end happily.
It is about the lessons that you will learn from your story.
The main lesson is finding who you are first.
Bye!
