Rana

"Yura...I trailed off and my tears fell on her face. I continued to press her stomach even though her body didn't respond. I am not losing her.

I heard her cough and spit out the water and the relief that washed over me at this moment was unexplainable. I felt like the happiest man in this world right now. I have no idea that I love her this much that it broke my heart in the mere thought of living without her presence.

She coughed and spat out quite a lot of water as I pressed her stomach further. Her face was so pale, her skin was chill and she was shivering. Her half-closed eyes landed on me and I hugged her ever so gently. Her face was buried in my chest.

No words can explain the feeling I am experiencing now. I held her close to me and looked down at her face. Her lips tug up in a small smile and If I say my chest hurt like hell, believe me, it does. I kissed her forehead with my eyes closed.

I carried her in my arms out of the forest. She was conscious but she was shivering so much. Her lips were flapping in chillness, her eyes were shut and her little whimpering made me sped up my pace. She clung to me so tightly and I rushed to our guest house.

Once we reached the room, I stripped her out from her saree and began drying her hair and body. She was shivering all the while. I helped her to wear her pajamas and laid her on the bed. I dried myself and dressed up quickly.

She was still shivering and it made me so worried. I touched her forehead with my hand and found that her temperature was high. I kissed her forehead and moved out of the room. I went to my uncle's house and all of them asked me about Yura, I said she was good and scurried to the kitchen. My only concern now is Yura.

I made black tea and bought some pills and water from Sempavalam aunty. I trotted towards my room and saw her sitting upon the bed shivering. "Yura" I called her out as I locked the door behind me and reached out for the side table to place the tumbler. She tiredly looked at me, oh my baby. I sat beside her, encircling my arms around her shoulder, and made her drink the black tea first. She took slow sips but finished off it.

I kissed her side of the head and took the pills and water from the side table. She swallowed the tablet with water reluctantly. She hates tablets. She sat quietly and rested her head on my chest, her hands snaked around my waist. I laid back on the bed and kissed her head. "You mean so much to me Yura," I said and she looked up at me with an exhausted smile. God! I love her so much.

She slept in my hold, the coolness in her body decreased a little as I held her so close to me giving her the warmth she needed. Her fever was gone but she was still shivering. I woke her up to have lunch and fed her some light foods. She had it without putting up any tantrums.

She laid back on the bed again and I sat near her rubbing the palm of her hand and feet, in an attempt to make her feel less cold.

............

Her eyebrows knitted as she opened her eyes, "Did I sleep again? it's evening!?" Her voice was low but it held amusement. I nodded at her and her eyes went wide. I leaned closer to her face and just stared up at her widened eyes.

There was a comfortable silence and I pecked her lips softly. "Rana" she whispered as I stared at her face. I hummed in return. "Let's leave to our house soon". I'm planning it too. "Just one more day and we can go, okay?" I placed a kiss on her cheek. She nodded with a smile.

"Are you feeling okay now?" I asked her, my hand resting on her throat. "Yes but I feel cold" she mumbled looking at me. "Then let's get ready, I will take you to hospital, come," I said and slowly made her sit up on the bed."No, I don't want to go there, I just need you, need you to hug me and sleep. It will be alright eventually" she said and laid back on the bed tugging at my hand to join her.
