Rana

I was typing an email on my laptop, resting back on the couch on the balcony. Somehow the moon and the chillness gave me comfort to do my work without stress."You want coffee!" Yura shouted from downstairs and I shrieked away in fear for one second. Then I caught myself together and replied "Yes, but why are you shouting though?" I yelled back from the balcony.

"Oh, my hubby! will you be able to hear me If I didn't shout?" Well, she's got a point there. I smiled sheepishly and yelled back a sorry. I diverted my attention again on the laptop and immersed myself in my work.

After a while, the sound of anklets made me swing my head from the laptop and look back at Yura, her hands were clasped around the cup, she was wearing a red silk saree that was wrapped around her frame loosely, a small black bindi on her forehead and she looked beautifully exhausted.

I smiled at her as she rested one hand on her hips and held the cup with another hand, she tilted her head and gave me an eyebrow-raised look before handing me the coffee.

I took it from her without saying anything and watched her staring at the moon, the night breeze made the free hair strands on her face to dance with it and my heart skipped a beat seeing her. As if sensing my gaze she darted her gaze towards me and I immediately started to sip the coffee, burning my tongue in the process. Shit!

I placed the cup on the small table before me with a hiss and heard Yura chuckle at my state. "What were you thinking before downing that, huh?" Her eyes held amusement as she asked me that question. "I was just admiring your charm" I ran my fingers through my hair and puffed out some air to soothe the little irritation on my tongue.

"Are you serious? I look like a mess right now!" She sighed and sat near me on the couch. "A beautiful mess" I grinned at her but she smacked my forehead with a little chuckle. "Flirty much" Saying that she leaned her head on my shoulder and wrapped her hands around my arm.

"I want to change this saree, but I'm too tired" she mumbled and closed her eyes tiredly. "May I help you wifey?" Her eyes merely opened and a faint smile played on her lips.
"Hm.." she hummed and her other hand found the way to mine and intertwined our fingers together.

Her breathing grazed over my neck and I leaned my head above hers with a smile. We have been together for years now, yet every time I see her I feel like I am falling for her all over once again. She's made my heart entirely hers. I closed my eyes and let the moment drown us in love.

"Rana" I heard her whisper, "yes" I whispered back. And then there was silence." I love you" a smile broke onto my face and I moved my head to stare at her face. I pressed my lips over hers softly and her lips tugged in a smile mimicking mine. And just like that, we were immersed in a sweet kiss until.....

"Appaaaaaa"(dad)We both pulled away abruptly and looked at each other wide-eyed then in the direction where the voice came from. There she is, the symbol of our love, our cutie pie, our Maha, she is five years old now. She rubbed her eyes and walked unsteadily towards us.

She sleepily shook her head once reaching near us and climbed on Yura's lap. She showed me her pinky finger indicating her disappointment with me and snuggled closer to Yura's chest.

"Oi!enkitta pesa maaatiya enna?"(Oi! won't you talk to me or what?) I asked taking her hands in mine. She pulled it away and cutely glared at me. "Ini unka kitta pesavae maataen"(I won't ever talk to you)she frowned and folded her hands over her chest.

Aen ma? appa enna pannaen?(Why dear, what did daddy do?) She stayed silent. I looked at Yura for a clue. "Didn't she tell you to be there when she wakes up?" Oh my god! I got it now. "Come on pretty, I am sorry, dad had some works to do that's why I came out here" Maha still stayed silent. Did I tell you how stubborn she can be?. Yura patted her hair softly and chuckled at me.

"Maha, I'm sorry da" she turned her head towards me and narrowed her eyes "poi sollatheenga, neenga enna paneetu irunthenganu nan paathutaen"(Don't lie, I saw what you were doing) she giggled saying that meanwhile Yura and I looked at each other deadpanned.

"Sorry chellam"(sorry sweetheart) I pouted sadly and she suddenly climbed onto my lap and wrapped her little hands around my neck, her cheeks were pressed onto my shoulder and she clutched me tightly. I patted her back with a smile and looked over at Yura.

We both had love in our eyes and genuineness in our smiles as we both stared at each other.
