Chapter 15: It's a Small World
Tessa's Point Of View:
I was angry with both Alex and Nate. Why are boys so, I don't know, just ahh!
"Look, Jessie and I grew up together; that's it. When she was taking me home she realized I was still alive and we agreed that we would wait to tell you I was alive," Alex said.
"Tessa, what she said, I didn't mean it. It was just a heat of the moment thing. I swear," Nate half whispered.
"I need space from both of you, so stay away from for a while." My heart was racing along with my mind. This whole fiasco: my life, Jesse, Alex, and Nate; it was all a mess. I didn't think I could handle it anymore. I knew that if I ran they would just come after me, and I couldn't just leave like Jessie did.
I decided to go for a walk. I grabbed my phone and my tennis shoes and left the hotel. I walked down the board walk from the hotel to the beach. I stopped at the bottom of the board walk to take off my shoes so I could walk along the water. When I stepped onto the warm sand I smiled. It had been, like, six years since I had been on a beach.
I made my way down to the water. A wave splashed up over my toes. The water wasn't exactly cold, but it wasn't warm either.
"Hey." I turned around to see a boy about my age. He was smiling at me.
"Hi." He walked towards me.
"What are you up too?" he asked as the water once again splashed up over my feet.
"Just trying to clear my head," I said looking back up at him. "What about you?"
"Same. I live up in New York City. I come down here when I need to get away from everyone," he was stating distantly over the water.
I studied him carefully. He had blueish green eyes. His hair was brown and very wind swept. It suited him. He was really cute too. He looked back over at me with a smirk.
"Why this beach?" I asked.
"Because it's quiet and there is almost never anyone here," he said.
"I'm Tessa," I said suddenly.
"Zander," he held out his hand and I shook it.
"Well it's nice to meet you Zander," I said with a smile.
"Tessa?" I looked back at the board walk to see Mark standing there watching us.
"Not now Mark," I said turning back to Zander.
"Boyfriend?" he asked gesturing towards Mark.
"No, brother," I smirked.
"Tessa, don't stay out to long, and be careful," Mark said then turned around and started walking back towards the hotel. I glared at his back.
"Sorry, hes been really protective sense I left home," I said looking back over the water.
"Why did you leave?" he asked watching me intently.
"I had to take care if something," I said vaguely.
"Well Tessa," he said smiling at me, "I have to run, but I'll see you later?" he asked.
I nodded with a huge smile. "Definitely," I said. I watched him turn and run back down the beach. I slid down onto the sand and let the water wash up over my feet.
My life was do screwed up right now. My best friend hated me, and I understood why. Nate and Alex have both been lying to me. How much more could I take? I stood up and made my way back up the board walk and to the hotel. The sun was starting to go down, and it was starting to get chillier.
