Chapter 19: Tough Decisions
Tessa's Point Of View
After Jessie went back up stairs I felt my face get really hot. Tears weled up in my eyes and poured down my face. I stood up quickly and ran to the first floor public bathroom. I ran into the handycaped stale and locked the door. I leaned against the wall. Slowly I slide down onto my butt and pulled my knees to my cheast.
Why are they such jerks? I thought angrily. I cried for, well I'm not sure how long. By the time I stoped cring i relized what i needed to do.
I stooded up and unlocked the stale. I got cleaned up and made my way upstairs. I could hear talking from inside the apartment. When i knocked on the door everything went scilent. Jessie opened the door and looked at me.
"I'm done thinking." I said straight forward.
"Okay." Jessie said, "Come in."
When I walked in I saw the look of uneas in both Nate and Alex's eyes. Jessie's room mates began to stand and walk out of the kitchen.
"Stay." They turned around looking confused, "Everyone needs to hear this." I said. I watched as they turned around and sat back down.
"Have you made your decision?" Jessie asked.
"Yes." I said simply. I toke a deep breath and began to walk forward. My eyes swept over Nate and Alex and everyone else. I walked right up to Zander and straight up kissed him. There was an audible gasp.
"Wow." Jessie mumbled, "Didn't expect that."
"I'm sorry that it had to come to this." I whisper, "I never wanted it to go this far. I do admit that I was in love with you at one point Nate but you went to far. And Alex I have always loved you, but as a friend. Right now Zander is the logical option. You both were wrong, I would choose Zander over you any day." I said getting quieter.
Everyone was deep in thought when my phone buzzed. I had received a message from Adeline. It said:
RUN
Not even 30 seconds after did I hear a knock at the door.
"I'll get it." Jake said as he got to his feet.
"No. Don't answer it." I whispered.
"Why not?" He asked in suprise. I looked at Jessie and a look of realization flashed over her face.
"Listen to her." She said. Her voice was a mix of anger and annoyance. "I'll be right back." She said then hurried off. She came back with a small black duffle bag.
"What..." Shane was cut off when Jessie pulled out 5 hand guns and a throwing knife.
"Where's the fire escape?" I asked.
"It's outside my window." Jake said pointing towards the hall. "Why?"
"Take a weapon and go down the fire escape," I said looking at all of them. "Wait at the bottom for me. Once we get away from here then I will explain." Shane, Jake, and Zander looked shocked and confused.
"Why?" Zander asked.
"Just do it, please," I said.
I watched as they each grabbed a different weapon leaving me with one of the guns. They all turned and one by one filed down the hall. Once the were out of site I grabbed the bag that once held the weapons and started grabbing food from the cupboards that would be good for a while.
There was another knock on the door.
I ran into each of the rooms and looked through everything for wallets, money, and any other essential things we might need. I hurried through Jake's door when I heard yelling from the front of the apartment.
"Hurry!" Jessie yelled as I slid down the fire escape.
When I reached the bottom I heard a gun shot and everything went fuzzy from there. I heard yelling and then everything went black.
