The moment Minjeong arrived inside her apartment, slightly tipsy from the alcohol she had taken. She stood frozen for a couple of seconds before realizing that she was okay. Then she exhaled long and deep, relaxing her tensed-up body.
Though feeling lifeless, the girl slowly made her way towards the kitchen and grabbed the sharpest knife she had. She crossed her arms and rested them on the counter, gazing at the knife with nostalgic eyes.
This happened before...
She thought to herself with a chuckle— Minjeong was totally out of it as she implanted a long cut on her left palm without much consideration, her hand now bleeding, the blood flowing down from the counter, dripping.
Of course, it was painful, but not painful enough for her to display any expressions and laugh quietly instead. Eventually, she remembered the nostalgia she felt... this occurrence happened years ago when she was still a child.
The time where she almost died because of the multiple cuts she had created around her body to see whether she could express emotions normally in life-threatening situations, only to end up with nothing.
Minjeong wasn't sure what was going on with her anymore, she wasn't sure if it was because of the alcohol or something else. Everything in her sight appeared to be vague, sometimes tremoring from time to time
Usually, when she's like this she'd never think of anything else but the negativity that's sinking her mind. There was nothing she could do but constantly try and hurt herself, the desire of wanting to become normal is filling her once again after a very long time.
She certainly felt hurt the moment she saw that thing back outside the rain. The thing is just, she couldn't understand it and felt perplexed. Her mind was in chaos, and she wanted it to stop.
So unconsciously, she cut herself on the same palm this time deeper, forming an X as more blood streams out of it. With a poker face, she examined her bleeding hand in astonishment, somehow amazed by the fact she had no urges to scream out the pain and remained senseless.
Another cut on the forearm.
Upwards approaching the elbow.
Again and again.
It hurts, but it felt nothing.
Until finally, she snapped out the moment she heard a familiar voice inside the living room.
"Heyyy~ Minjeongie, I brou-?!"
Minjeong stayed standing where she was. A shift came upon her expression as she gradually pulled herself out of that irregular state of mind. Some moments later, she turned around towards the familiar voice, her lips parted, and spoke in a raspy voice.
"T-Tae...?"
She didn't even hear the door opening which was quite strange, she was too out of herself, unstable.
The man that seemed to have just arrived at the younger's apartment quickly placed the food he had in hand and ran towards the kitchen. He was immediately welcomed by an alerting amount of blood slowly flowing out of the girl's bloody arm.
Tae was quick to grab the kitchen towel and wrap it around the girl's palm, it wasn't enough to cover her whole arm but still offered help in reducing the blood loss. He cupped Minjeong's cheeks and looked at her with full intent, worried.
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING TO YOURSELF?!!"
He couldn't help but yell, his voice breaking out weakly due to the unexpected occurrence he had stepped himself into and it just so happens the painful memories he had with Minjeong along with two particular sisters came in a flash.
