The morning of the 5th arrived and I was pulled out of bed early by Draco.
"Flor! Get up, Flor!" I moaned and flopped to my other side "Come on Florenceee" he whined
"What time is it" I whined and buried my face into the forest green satin pillow.
"6 in the morning and our letters came in!"
I shot up and was on my feet. "What!" I exclaimed
"Get dressed. It's waiting for you on your spot at the dining table!" Draco sprinted out of the room practically slamming my door shut in his excitement. I grabbed a plaid long sleeve dress and quickly threw off my cotton nightgown and got into the dress quickly. Sitting in front of the vanity I brushed my hair as quickly as I could making it look as nice as possible. I was halfway out of my bedroom door as I slipped on black ankle boots.
I was downstairs in a minute as I neared the closed doors of the dining room I collected myself. I opened one of the doors and confidently walked to my spot across from Draco.
He grinned at me and I returned it. Not even Lucius being in the general vicinity would ruin this for us. We nodded and opened them at the same time.
Dear Ms. Riddle, We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizarding. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on September 1st. We await your owl by no later than July 31st. Yours sincerely, Minerva McGonagall

I looked up at the same time as Draco we were smiling wildly.
"I think we can go to Diagon Alley tomorrow if you'd like... Florence?" Aunt Cissy asked from her side of the table.
"I couldn't think of a better way to spend a birthday, Cissy" I smiled kindly at her.
Aunt Cissy smile widened "perfect"

The day passed rather quickly with only about once with Lucius dampening the mood. That night I snuck into Draco's room as we do on our birthdays to give each other our gifts.
I grasped my present wrapped in grey paper from my trunk. Opening my door and looking down both ways of the hall I made a dash for the door across from mine. Draco's room. Quietly I opened and closed the door.
"Good, you are here. We can get started" Draco bounced on the bed and I let out a light chuckle.
"Happy Birthday, Dray" I handed him the gift as I took a seat on his bed.
he opened it carefully savoring the moment. Tugging open the box I placed everything in. A silver ring with a peacock engraved on it. The peacock being the Malfoy family symbol and crest. I also placed a dark green book with a snake imprinted on the leather cover.
"I love them, thank you Flor" Draco pounced and gave me a large hug. The clock struck midnight a moment later "Happy Birthday, Flor" he grinned
"Why thank you, Dray" I smiled
"Now here's your gift" Handing me a green wrapped present from under his pillow. Opening it delicately I saw a small silver necklace, the pendant being silver with a small snake on it.

"It's lovely" I smiled and unclasped the necklace and reclasped it around my neck.
"There's one more thing" he grinned.
Unfolding the tissue paper I was surprised to see three beautiful throwing knives with a sheath for around my thigh.

"Classy protection for a classy girl" Draco cheekily smiled.
