Slytherin Loyalty

Most Slytherins have Death Eater parents and one thing many people overlook is the loyalty of Slytherins. So once in Slytherin, everyone just automatically thinks the evil is of their own accord. When in reality Slytherins are too loyal to their family because that's the worst kind of loyalty you can break.

I know Draco and I don't share the same values as the people that raised us and after my talk with Pansy in the room of requirement I know she doesn't either.

So we're just kids without much of a choice.

The best  I could do is prepare for war and protect those who mean most to me. I woke up in the middle of the night with thoughts of protecting my friends and when I realized I was unable to go back to sleep I crept down to the empty common room.

The fire was still roaring sending heat into the dungeon.

As I stared at the fire my thoughts wandered to the Patronus charm. It would most likely be the same as my animagus form.

I closed my eyes and searched for a happy memory. When I was satisfied with the one when Draco woke me up about our Hogwarts letters. "Expecto Patronum" I whispered pointing my wand upward as a weak silvery-white light came out. A smile formed at least it's something Cissy and Sev had said how death eaters couldn't cast a Patronus so I didn't have a high standard expecting not to be able to do it because of my father being Voldemort.

I closed my eyes again trying to find probably a stronger memory. playing tag with Draco. "Expecto Patronum" same effect.

I sighed maybe not a particularly happy memory. Thinking about the time I begged Cissy to show me a picture of my father. At the time I was 8 and blissfully unaware my father caused the wizarding war. Cissy was reluctant and I was persistent and she caved. She pulled a photo from the top shelf from between two books. I was anxious to see what he looked like... then I saw it. Pale skin, strangely thin black hair, sunken sockets with beady red eyes, wearing expensive-looking black robes and cloak, the hood over his head, and long thin fingers sticking out of his sleeves. Cissy was quick to explain after my terrified face that he hadn't always looked like that but this was the only photo she had. The day he went out to kill the Potters and disappeared.

I let the feeling of joy, horror, and acceptance wash over me and fill my core "Expecto Patronum" and this time a large silvery-white wolf burst out of the tip of my wand. It sprinted around me and across the common room. "I did it" I whispered to myself a grin spread across my face. "I actually did it... I'll never be like you, Tom Riddle"

I had probably stayed thereafter successfully doing the spell for another hour just watching the fire burn.

"Flor?" A voice broke the silence "what are you doing up"

"Couldn't sleep, Dray... why are you up?" I tore my eyes away from the fire to Draco.

"Same reason" he plopped down next to me. "Did you happen to see a white light down here?"

I looked down some of my hair falling to cover my face. I felt rather sheepish at the moment "That was me"

"You? what spell" now I caught Draco's attention

"The Patronus charm, Dray" I looked up "I can do the Patronus charm"

Draco reached out and tucked some of my hair behind my ear "can you show me?"

I nodded not breaking eye contact with his blue-grey eyes.

"Expecto Patronum" My wand was pointed at the fire and once again the large silvery-white wolf jumped out. It shook its fur like a real dog before jumping over us and disappearing for a second time.

"Just like..." Draco stared amazed at the spot it disappeared. I nodded again not sure what to say. "amazing... your amazing" Draco leaned forward and kissed my forehead. When he pulled back his eyes flicked down to my lips and back again.

The distance between us was getting smaller as we leaned closer. My eyes started fluttering close.

"Hey! Florry are you down -- here?" Pansy walked out of the girl's hallway. Draco and I jumped apart. But it was too late Pansy had already seen. "Shoot did I interrupt a moment. So totally did. Don't mind me just get back to your moment" Pansy slowly backed away.

It was dead silent as we stared down the hall.

"We should go to bed," Draco said slowly

"yeah, we should" I was still in shock as we both got up and went down our separate hallways towards our beds.

When I got back I laid down under my blankets facing the ceiling.

"did you guys kiss?" I heard a whisper from Pansy

"no" I whispered

"Did you want to?" Pansy asked from the corner of my eye I could see her silhouette sitting up slightly propped up on her elbow.

I paused. Did I? He's my best friend, knows my darkest secrets, and knows who I really am.

"yes" I breathe

Pansy squealed in excitement before plopping back down into her bed. "damn my timing" cursed herself and I let out a chuckle at my friend.
