Chapter 2: Day 1 of the Darkness

The now possessed principal Redfern, was on top of Kyle, relentlessly attacking him like a rabid dog. Kyle managed to keep his hands at the principal's throat to hold him back as much as possible. So much was happening at once, not only was the principal trying to kill him, but Kyle could hear students screaming and running in the hallway. Kyle could see at the corner of his eye teachers and staff who were also possessed, chasing and killing their own students. Kyle's mind was filled with so much fear that he couldn't focus on anything as such he was holding the possessed principal back by pure adrenaline alone. However, Kyle was suddenly brought back to focus when he heard a voice in his head calling out to him.

Pu- pu- ger- pug- rge-

Kyle was confused not only could he hear the voice in his head, but he could also feel it coming from principal Redfern.

"W- What? What are you saying? What are you?" Suddenly the possessed principal stopped chopping at Kyle relentlessly and stared at him. Kyle wondered if he was perhaps turning back to normal; however, this theory was shot down when the principal screeched nightmarishly. Kyle couldn't help but cringe at the agonizing noise, to make it worse the voice in his head yelling so loudly it made his ears ring even more.

PURGE!

Now the possessed principal was putting more strength into his attacks, he even managed to lunge his head right up to Kyle's neck. Out of fear, Kyle ignited his hands in scorching flame, the fire not only forced the principal back again but also burning through his neck.

N- o! not th- e ne- ck I- nee- d it I ne- ed th- e hea- d!

Kyle didn't listen to the voice, if he stopped now the possessed principal would continue his relentless attack. Kyle kept burning the principal's neck until the principal stopped moving. The principal then fell beside him with his neck loose. Though the principal was dead, his eyes reverted to normal, the black veins were gone, and the black ooze he drooled turned into dust. Kyle watched the transformation while trying to catch his breath, but once he had it, he panicked and pushed the principal's body away. Kyle looked at the corpse stunned by what he had done, his head was filled with questions as his chest felt heavy out of overwhelming confusion and fear; worst off, the nightmare still wasn't over. Even though he had survived the attack by Principal Redfern the possessed teachers and staff were running around eating and attacking any student they could grab. Kyle got up and was nearly attacked by a possessed teacher, so he ignited his hands in fire again and used the fire to keep the possessed teacher away. Strangely the possessed teacher just ran around him to avoid the fire yet didn't break eye contact and was still staring at him even as it ran away to chase another student.

The men in black and soldiers managed to break their way in and invade the school as well and killing even more students. One noticed Kyle and rushed toward him while Kyle, purely on instinct alone was crawling away from the possessed man in black. Quickly however, Kyle hit a wall and was now cornered by the possessed man in black. Out of fear Kyle unleashed his powers by throwing a barrage of fire onto the possessed man in black. The possessed man in black was slightly forced back by the flames but despite his body burning he still forced his way forward. Kyle did not let up and continued the barrage of burning flames and thankfully the possessed man in black was so burnt that his body fell apart before he could get close enough. Kyle breathed a sigh of relief as what remained of the body burned and crumbled until all that was left was the red diamond from the black smoke. Kyle was disgusted but knew he needed to find out what was happening. He quickly grabbed the crystals and what remained of the body instantly turned to ash. Kyle examined the red diamond the best he could but unfortunately all he could see was that it was no different from a regular crystal. He knew he couldn't get any information from it now, so he decided to put the red diamond in his pocket and examine it later. However, before he could, the crystal lost its crimson glow and shattered into red dust.
