Chi heard Mr. Miyagi call her from the main room. She checked her box- making sure it was completely wrapped, and bolted out of her bedroom. She saw Daniel sitting down at the table, looking up to her. She smiled, sitting right beside him. He rested his head on her, causing her to giggle. The lights suddenly went off, and Daniel sat up straight, taking her hand under the table instead. "Happy birthday..." Mr. Miyagi's voice started singing, and Chi joined in. "Happy birthday to you!" concluded the song, as Daniel blew out all of the candles on the cake. "Must be good wish." Mr. Miyagi said, starting to scrummage under the table. "Was a good one," he replied, looking down at a smiling Chi. He turned around to Mr. Miyagi, who was holding out a present. "Oh what did you do..." Daniel said, taking the gift. He opened the box carefully- revealing a gi, with a bonsai tree stitched perfectly to the back. Chi smiled at Daniel's reaction, as his face lit up. "Was made by Miyagi wife..." he said slowly, a smile still on his face. "Oh Mr. Miyagi I understand if you want this back..." he replied, his smile changed into a concerned face. "No! No! Keep. Make old man happy." he chuckled, as Daniel and Chi smiled. "I have a little something too..." Chi said, causing Daniel's attention to completely shift to Chi. She handed him the box, and he immediately started unwrapping it. Chi watched carefully, a large amount of anticipation forming from the hands. She really did hope he liked it. Daniel then took the item out of the box... a sketchbook. He opened it, the first page filled with all the photos they took together on their dates. Daniel's face immediately lit up, and he flipped the page. A watercolor sketch of him practicing looked back up at them. "This is amazing..." he started, but Chi immediately cut him out. "Turn the page!" she replied excitingly. Mr. Miyagi watched them, a smile on his face. Daniel flipped the page to yet another drawing of them at the beach, and his smile only became wider. He flipped it again- and to his eyes- a package of chia seeds, taped to the book. He laughed, then looked over to Chi. "Happy birthday..." she said, but was cut out as he kissed her forehead gently. "This will be our book." he said, and Chi immediately blushed. "Yes." she replied, squeezing his hand. They continued to eat cake for a bit, and talk. "Daniel-san get license today, yes?" Mr. Miyagi asked, and Daniel turned his head from the cake. "Yes... it's officially not illegal!" he replied, causing Chi to laugh. Mr. Miyagi sat up from the table, told them to follow him outside. Confused, they followed him outside. "Pick," he said to them, and both their faces lit up. "Oh my god..." Chi immediately ran over to the blue convertible, shining in the moon. "Oh no... I can't do that..." he said, looking over to Chi starting to get into the car. "What I say? Don't make old man sad!" he replied causing Daniel to laugh. He bit his lip, and scanned the cars. Without a second thought he walked over to the yellow one, as Chi walked back to Mr. Miyagi. "Thank you, but it's not my birthday?" she asked, confused. "So you can go out with sweetheart." he replied, nodding to Daniel. Chi immediately blushed, and started to walk over to the yellow car. She sat in the passenger's seat beside him. He leaned back, taking in the moment, his hair bouncing. Chi smiled, and looked over to Mr. Miyagi who was holding a thumbs up. "How about we go somewhere special." she said, and he turned to her. "Is Mr. Miyagi..." "Yes." Chi replied, cutting him out. He smiled, starting the engine. "Bonsai!" Mr. Miyagi yelled after them- and they yelled it back, before leaving the gate.
