Houston Tx
6 years ago16 year old Armani stood in the living room with tears running down her face. She had just got home from a long exhausting day of school and she was ready to just go lay in her bed. Little did she know that when she got home from school today her life would change forever.
Armani's mother stood in front of her with a blank face as she watched the tears cascade down her daughters face. She had just told Armani that she needed to pack her stuff and leave the house. Armani had bipolar disorder and would have randomly episodes that her mom couldn't seem to handle anymore.
Armani knew that her and her mother's relationship was a bit rocky but she never thought her mother would kick her out. She knew her bipolar disorder could be a bit much sometimes but lately she had been taking her medicine and doing everything she was supposed to. So she didn't understand why her mother wanted her out.
Armani tried drying the tears off her face but as soon as would wipe them more came out almost instantly. She looked at her mother with begging eyes hoping the she would change her mind and let her stay but her mothers eyes looked like they didn't care what happened to Armani.
"Please momma let me stay i don't have anywhere to go nor do i have any money what am i gonna do" Armani asked her mother who shrugged her shoulders. "Honestly Armani I don't care where you go but i need you out of my house You have until 8pm to get your stuff out of my house or i'll call the police on you"
Armani looked at her mother with shocked eyes she couldn't believe those words had just come out of her mouth. After hearing that Armani wiped her tears and left the living room to go to her room and pack up what she could. Armani wasn't rich and barely lived a comfortable life. Her mother just made enough money to pay bills, put food on the table, and occasionally do something nice or buy something nice. So Armani didn't have a lot of stuff to pack.
She stuffed a few of her clothes in a duffle bag she had got from PINK. She wanted to bring so much more but she didn't know where she was gonna go and she didn't want to have a lot of things to carry. On the other side of her duffel bag she put her medicine, some of the snacks she kept in her room, menstrual products, and her hygiene products.
Although Armani was packing her stuff like she knew what she was doing she had no idea what she was doing. She had no job due to the fact that she had just turned 16 and that's when most jobs in her area started hiring. Having no job meant she had no money. Another thing Armani didn't have was a place to go her father had been locked up since she was 12 and he still had 7 more years to serve. Her grandmother had passed away and the family that lived in Houston ,which is her mother's side of the family, does not like her because of her bipolar disorder. They claim it's a bad look for the family. Her dad's side of the family all lived in Atlanta and there was no way she could get there with no money.
So she finished up packing her bag and she let out a heavy sigh. She picked up her cracked iPhone 6 and got her charger. She started walking towards her bedroom door with tears running down her eyes. She took one last look and closed the door. She walked down the hallway to the living room where her mom was on the phone giggling like a middle schooler. She stood there waiting for her mom to hang up the phone so she could tell her she was leaving.
After about 5 minutes her mother hung up the phone and looked at her. "I- Im leaving" Armani said as she tried not to break down. "Took you long enough here's fifty dollars that's all your getting from me and your phone is on till the end of the month after that it will be disconnected. Don't ask me for anything because your not getting anything you are no longer my responsibility."
Armani shook her head and walked out the living room and out the front door. The moment she walked out the door she told herself two things. She will become successful and She will never depend on anyone to do anything for her.
Armani started walking down the street watching kids play and watching adults smoke on there porch. She had no idea where she was going but she knew she needed to get somewhere before it got to late.
She got the idea to go to a homeless shelter and spend the night there to think and the next day she would figure out what to do.
It took her about 30 minutes to find a homeless shelter and she got lucky because she was the last person they were taking in for the night. Once she found her area to sleep she sat down and called Atlanta county jail. She knew her dad was locked up but she just wanted his advice on what to do. Before he got locked up he was the best father he could be to Armani and would go to hell and back for her. So she knew his words could bring her some type of comfort
The phone rang three times before his deep voice filled her ears.
"Hello?" her dad said slightly confused since Armani only called him twice a week due the her mothers wishes and the rest of his family only called during the day. "Daddy it's me Armani " she said in a quiet voice because she didn't want anyone to hear her conversation."What's up baby girl why you calling so late" Armani sighed before explaining what had happened with her mother.
When Armani finished her father was on 10 and he wanted to leave the jail to handle Tasha ,Armani's mother, right away.
Armani was not brought into the world in the best circumstances her mother and father weren't together when she was born. She was completely an accident but nonetheless her father loved her a lot her mother on the other hand couldn't stand Armani she felt as if she had messed up her entire life. But Armani's father was always around so she couldn't display her true emotions. Which is why when he got locked up her and Armani's "Perfect relationship " went downhill Tasha started showing her true emotions. And that's why when Armani turned 16 she was ready to have her out of her house.
Armani's father couldn't believe she would do such a thing to his daughter. "Fuck mani ain't to much I can do since I'm locked up but i'll have my momma send you 500 dollars get some food then get a bus ticket and make your way down to Atlanta my people gone help take care of yo-"
there is one minute remaining on the call
Armani rolled her eyes at the sound of the automated lady. "Thank you so much daddy i'll call you tomorrow afternoon and let you know how everything goes" Armani said. "It's no problem you know I always got you baby girl I love you and stay safe". Before Armani could even say I love you back the phone hung up.
Once the call ended she laid down and almost instantly she fell asleep hopeful that her new life in Atlanta could make a difference in the horrible nightmare her mother had created for her.
