Problem solved
LEXI P.O.V
I started my car and drove home. If Allie decided to show up, she would be here in an hour. Enough time. Now, to get Charles Merrick.I rung on his cellophone number. He picked up in the third ring. “hello” he said. “hi Mr Merrick, this is Rafe’s tutor, Lexi. I was wondering if you could come over to thje park outside the university?” i asked. There was angry shouts at the background and music. The kind of music pubs played. “are you in a bar?” disgust laced in my voice. “yes young lady and it is none of your business what i do” he answered calmly. How could he? “sir, your son is snapping at me every single second and your daughter, my friend is miserable. They need you, now of all times” i almost screamed. I paused to take a breath and let my words sink in.
“so what” he snapped . “your wife has a brain tumor, i understand that. Your are grieving, i understand that too. What i dont understand is that why are you pushing Rafe and Allie away. You are going to be lonely for the rest of your life if you do that. If you talk to them now, then you will have your family in the end, not alcohol” i snapped. I dont believe this. “ no you dont understand” he silently said. i scoffed. “sir, i didnt know i had a mother until 6 years ago. I was sold to someone when i was three weeks old and i saw my father shot in front of me. So before Allie OR Rafe melts in to the backgrounds like me, make things right with them, remember, you are loosing your wife but they are also loosing their mother” i didnt relize that there were tears running down my cheeks until i hung up. Was this why Rafe was falling behind in history? Because he wanted to get attention from his dad?

“what am i doing here?” asked Charles. He just got out of the taxi looking completely drunk. He slurred on his words and stumbled over his steps. Oh great, now i have to babysit a drunkard. I told him to go to the park and he showed up at my house. “umm i told you to go to the park, what are you doing here?” i hissed. My step-dad was inside watching TV and i dont know what else and my mom is having a nap. Which is why i cant afford to scream my head off at him right now. I ran up to my brother’s room. “Will, bro i will do anything for you if you just help me out this once” i basically begged him. He stopped playing his drums and looked at me with a confused look. “ok, i have got a drunk, noisy and pissed off Charles Merrick out on the lawn” i paniced. Will looked at me wide eyed. “what is he doing here?!” he asked. So i explained everything to him. “ok, ill help you if you can get Allie to stop ignoring me” he got up and followed, no ran behind me. “you got a deal. Now, come on”
With much effort, i got Charles in my car with a now 3 cups of black sugarless coffee down his throat with another cup in his hand. If he doesnt sort this out with Rafe or Allie, its gonna get worse. I speak from experience. I came to halt outside a huge victorian looking building, also a university and a park opposite from it. I got out and hauled Charles out of his seat. “oh,come on, i was really sleepy ya know” he slurred. This is going to hurt, not me, him.
I swung my palm and it hit straight on his cheek. He looked stunned then he shook his head. “wha-what happened?” he asked groggily. I think the coffee hasnt kicked in. “what am i doing here?” he asked. He slurred on his words a little. I cant afford him to be drunk.
Something red caught my eye. It was hair. Allie’s hair. She and Rafe were under a tree. Rafe a grin spread across his face. I felt something fluttering in my stomach. No. Not now. Rafe turned his head and his eyes met mine, then he looked over my shoulder and frowned. God he looked hot. What? I snapped out of checking him out and remembered that i still have a half drunken Charles behind me. I turned around. Charles had too much beer to even think about anything. So one option left.
