Prompt: Maybe Nico and Anubis go to the same school. Despite their similarities they dint really hang out in class. People know them as these extremely smart, attractive, unapproachable guys. However when they hang out together their entire dynamic shifts. They're more sarcastic, seem less bored, less tense.

Mr. D gazed down at his students from his seat by the black-board.

His students had all been treated to a pop-quiz, and all but two had wallowed in despair. Nico and Anubis had smirked to themselves as they opened their tests. Mr. D was never worried about their grades, but recently, he had become increasingly more worried about their dynamic in class.

Nico and Anubis had been his students for three years already, and they had never ended up in the same class before, so they hadn't had any reason to interact, he supposed. Mr. D liked them both, not just because they excelled in his class, but also because they never made any fuss about pop-quizzes. He could do without the girls in his class fawning over them behind their back, yet never having the guts to approach either of them. He knew they both had their own friend groups, and their friends don't really hang out with those outside their group. This year, however, senior year, they were both in his class.

Mr. D hadn't really thought anything of it until they had begun their stupid squabble. In the beginning, they never interacted. The only difference in his class was that the girls (and some boys, Mr. D had eyes) seemed like they couldn't catch a break, seeing as there were now two smart and attractive guys in one class. Mr. D was growing a little tired of their drooling.

Everything had been fine until Nico and Anubis actually started to interact with each other. It had begun with an assignment, where Mr. D had purposely put them together, because he needed to know how his students worked together, so he could not have them work together later. That turned out to be exactly what happened.

The two boys had butted heads almost immediately. They both had strong personalities and opinions on how things were supposed to be done. They did manage to ace the assignment, but it was the closest Mr. D had been to giving them anything lower than an A in his class.

Ever since then, Mr. D had made a point to not place them in the same group in assignment. The two teens became more conscious of each other after that. They both got the same grades, turned in their assignments on the same day, and sometimes they even wore the same outfit.

They both played it off, making sarcastic comments at the other's expense. The insults seemed mean, but Mr. D swore their smirks were just on the verge of being genuine smiles. He was convinced they actually liked the competition, like they were keeping each other on their toes like no-one else had been able to before.

Mr. D was actually surprised they hadn't gotten over their pathetic sexual tension and just screwed each other yet. Everyone but them knew there was obviously something between them. Some of his students usually rolled their eyes when the playful ribbing started.

At the moment, the two teens had seemingly decided to compete on who could finish the pop-quiz first. It seemed like they were even, the two turning the page at the exact same time. Mr. D smirked silently as he noticed the angry furrow in Nico's eyebrows.

He studied his nails as he waited for them to finish up, and wasn't surprised to see them both rise at the same time. They both walked to his desk, thrusting their tests at him simultaneously. Mr. D raised an amused eyebrow at them when they turned to glare at each other.

"I finished first," Nico spat at Anubis.

"Yeah, right," Anubis snorted in return.

"It's not a race," Mr. D muttered.

Nico didn't look away from Anubis. "I was still first."

Anubis sneered and opened his mouth to say something, but was interrupted by Will's annoyed voice. "You're kinda overdoing it with the enemies to lovers trope."

Nico, being one of Will's friends, turned on him. "You need to stop reading fanfiction!"

Anubis scoffed at their outbursts. "You wish you could pull me."

Nico scowled at him, opening his mouth.

Mr. D snatched their tests from their hands, startling the two boys. "If you're quite finished, you can get out!"

The teens swallowed and gave each other one last glare before trudging out of the room.

Mr. D sighed as the door shut in their wake. He leaned back in his chair and started reviewing their tests. They looked perfect as always.

He could still hear their muffled voices from the hallway and rolled his eyes as he marked their scores. A few seconds passed before their voices disappeared altogether. A thud suddenly sounded at the side wall of the classroom.

Mr. D glanced at the door. Surely they hadn't started throwing punches instead of insults?

He got up from his chair and made his way to the door. He opened it slowly and looked down the hallway. He felt his eyebrow raise as he spotted the two boys most definitely not throwing punches, but rather angrily kissing against the lockers lining the wall. Anubis had Nico pressed up against the lockers and seemed thoroughly invested in the inside of the other's mouth, from what Mr. D could see.

He cleared his throat, feeling a smirk make its way to his lips as the two teens jumped apart. "As happy as I am that you got over your pathetic rivalry, I would be happier if you did it somewhere else."

Nico nodded, looking like a tomato with the flush reaching his ears. He grabbed Anubis' hand and pulled him away from the classroom.

Mr. D shook his head fondly before returning to the classroom.
