''(Y/N), huh?'' Jacques said as he took another bite. This time, some fruit filling stuck on his facial hair which made you laugh and stick a napkin to his face. ''So, what's your name?'' you asked. ''Jacques, Jacques Le Gris,'' he said as he wiped his goatee with the napkin.

''Shouldn't there be a ''Sir'' in there?'' you asked.

Jacques placed the last part of food on the plate and looked to the side. ''I don't think I'm deserving of that title now....'' he said.

''What? Because of that?! If ANYTHING, they should be adding on for what they did!'' you said.

''Very kind of you to say, but I'm better off dead after being disgraced like that, which leads me to my next question, why?'' he said.

''I've seen some of my kin in similar situations. I couldn't get to them, but I got to you,'' you replied. There was ANOTHER reason, but you didn't want to reveal it yet.

Jacques started on the bowl of porridge. ''Ah, I've seen and heard of some of your relatives in battle,'' he said as he blew on the spoon. ''Very impressive,'' he added taking a bite.

He soon emptied the bowl as his eye's became a little heavy again. You helped him get situated back under the blankets again. ''Get some rest,'' you quietly said gripping his hand. He was already asleep. All of this movement must of tired him out.

You took the tray and quietly set it on the table. This time, it was only necessary to close the curtains halfway. Due to the cold, you made sure the fire was still going. Before you left, you decided to stay and watch him for a few minutes. You wondered when he would wake again. This person was interesting and knows about written word.   You were intrigued.

A servant came along with news that your father wanted to see you. Internally, you tolled your eyes because you knew what this was about.

You left Jacques quarter's and made your trip to the other side of the manor. Your father was in his ''office'' or ''den.'' You knocked on the side of the doorway to get his attention. He was not really a caring man. He was more concerned about the family legacy, power, and gold. This was most likely ANOTHER arranged match to sell you off like cattle. He kept mentioning that you needed to ''breed'' and further the family line.

Unfortunately, you were right. Your father did set up something. ''This is a fellow from knighted family, so please give him a chance?'' he asked. You gave him a nod and a fake smile and went back to your room to get ready. You had four hours before he arrived, more than enough time.

Your servants got you ready in your favorite white gown. It had solid and mesh pieces on it. Your hair was done with white flowers. Jewelry and some make up were even added.

As they took their time, soon as you knew it, it was time to go. You walked slowly to the dining hall to meet your ''attendant'' for dinner. When you first saw him, ''halfwit'' went across your mind how you seen him ''gawk'' at you. Throughout the WHOLE dinner, he did not have interesting conversation. You both took a stroll on the grounds afterward. He did nothing but sneak looks, some being quite obvious too, of your cleavage and hips. It was quite obvious what he wanted you for and NOT caring at all for your knowledge!

You were SO glad when the evening ended! This guy was a straight up MORON! You wondered if Jacques was awake as it crossed your mind. At least he would know something unlike these empty headed guys! He was probably hungry too, so you had the kitchen make something from the night's leftovers.

Since the servants would bring the meal to his room, you began your walk back. You decided to take your heels off and walk barefoot on the cool, marble floor.

Quietly, you entered Jacques's room. He was asleep as you expected. You walked over to the fire place, leaned on the edge and looked into the flames.

''Rough day?'' a voice asked. You turned around and saw Jacques awake. There was a knock on the door. You answered the door and retrieved Jacques food. You placed the tray on his lap as he sat up as you remained on the bedside. ''The same thing really, guys examining my body,'' you said with an eye roll.

''Can't really blame them,'' Jacques said taking a bite out of his bread.

''What?!'' you asked.

''At first glance, before you opened your mouth, it's what I would think,'' Jacques said. He went on. ''BELIEVE me I know, I've been around armies and other troops,'' he added drinking a glass of wine. ''We are such disgusting creatures,'' he said putting his goblet down.

That remark made you laugh. You let him eat a little more before asking something. ''How is your knee feeling?'' you asked.

''Better but still a little rough,'' he replied.

''Would you like to get up out of this bed tomorrow, I want to show you the library,'' you asked and said.

''I would love that, I'll need some clothes,'' he replied.

''Yes, of course,'' you said.

He finished his food and gave you a nod of agreement while chewing. ''At least your servants will be able to clean in here tomorrow, I've seen their distressed looks,'' he said.

His remark made you laugh again.
