It did not take as long as you had expected to reach your destination. Of course the roads were muddy, but what can you expect? The snow was melting along with the country's odd weather.
When you saw the tents up ahead, you made your horse pick up the pace. The ground became muddy and muddier as you ventured farther in. The stench became quite revolting as well, but what did you expect?
You got off your horse and grabbed it's reigns as you lead it through the muddy terrain. A lot of men were sitting around fires and very muddy. As you kept on walking, you still saw no sign of Jacques.
A single tent was in the middle of the area. There were uniformed men going in and out of it. As you approached, some men looked at you or paid no mind. After all, women COULD NOT fight.
As you went inside, you hopped to speak to someone. Instead you got shoulder brushed constantly without even an apology. Obviously, you were not going to get an answer, so you went back outside.
Your eye caught a group of men who were hauling the day's hunt tied upside down on a branch. It was a giant stag, looked as if it could feed more than half of the men. You approached then to hopefully get some information.
Grabbing the reigns of your horse, you ran up beside them. They all stopped and looked at you. So you got straight to the point.
''Do you know where Jacques LeGris is?'' you asked.
The first two had NO idea who you were speaking of. The third one didn't seem to have a clue either, but the forth one did.
''He's in that tent over there by the other officers,'' he said as he pointed.
''Thank you so much......''
''Jean, m'lady''You shook his hand and had coins hidden in your hand shake.
Suddenly, there was a garrison riding in. They were ALL covered in dirt and mud. Even the horses were dirty. Up ahead, you saw a horse by Jacques tent and someone go inside. You walked quickly up to it.
Peeking through a hole, you wanted to make sure that this person was REALLY him. Not to fear, it was. He was completely dirty as he sat in a chair and sighed, holding his face. You decided to go inside without making a sound. Finally, you were standing there looking at him.
''Jacques?'' you quietly said. He lifted his face from his hand's and stared at you. His eye's were becoming wet as his bottom lip quivered a little. You ran up to him and hugged him. He hugged your waist and soon was on the ground crying. You knelt down and covered him with the cape of your cowl. He resumed hugging you again. ''Y/N, you came back,'' he said. ''Of course I did, I only wished I had gotten to you sooner,'' you confessed.
He laid his head on the area on your cleavage under your chin. Your hand held his head there as he held onto you. You gloved thumbs removed of the mud and dirt Uber his eye's. His eye's remained closed, but you saw the redness mixed with the darkness. You held him tighter.
You stood up, pulling him along with you.
''I need to get you out of here, your malnourished, sleep deprived, and very dirty,'' you said. He had ALWAYS been touched by your concern for him. Going back when you rescued a disgraced knight.
He didn't argue and let you lead him out. You both climbed on top of your horse and rode out. There was a town near by and it had a little inn. Jacques could use a bath, good food, and a feather bed.
The little town wasn't far away from the camp. Jacques was sitting behind you, he hugged your waist to hold on while laying against your back. You didn't mind being touched by his filthy clothes and armor, you just wanted to have him for yourself and get him somewhat stable again.
When you arrived at the little place, you walked your horse to a post and hopped down. Jacques followed after. As soon as you tied the horse's reigns, you gently grabbed Jacques hand with your gloved hand and went inside.
He was tired from the day and whatnot, so you sat him down on a small bench while you made arrangements with the innkeeper. After a few minutes, you returned to him. You squatted down to his level, ''They're setting up some warm bathing for you, along with a meal, and a feather bed.'' You held up his head to look at you. His eye's were misty. You hugged him and told him that you would be right back. You had to bring the knapsack on the horse inside.
When you returned inside, the innkeeper told you things were ready. You gave a nod and turned to Jacques. Gently grabbing his hand and letting out a little ''come on,'' he stood up and followed you to the room. A bathtub was waiting. All filled up with hot water, towels, washcloths, and a hair washing pitcher and bowl were ready.
You started to remove the muddy armor. Jacques remained quiet as he watched you. His armor was VERY dirty from whatever he was doing, making it hard to get off! When he was just in his clothes, he took over. When he removed his shirt, the muscle tone he once had wasn't there. He was pale and thin which saddened you inside. The rest was removed and he got in the water.
Hair washing was first. You set everything up and had Jacques get comfortable as he laid back with his head over. You filled the pitcher and began washing. Slowly, the dirt dripped into the pan until it was clear. Then you added the soap and washed his head. He enjoyed you scratching his scalp and behind his ears. Then, you rinsed his hair, grabbing the his locks and draining them.
After you had finished, you reached into the bag and pulled out some hair oil to spritz on. It would make it bouncy and smell nice. He then sat up as you began to wash his face. Little by little, a face appeared from the dirt. Both of you locked eyes the entire time. You then began to wash the side of his face and he closed his eye's and leaned his cheek into your hand. You held it there for a few to let him have this moment. Then, you carried on with washing the rest of his body.
Before he stood up, you spritz some oil on his body too. It was one to relax your muscles. You then dried him off in front of the fire. As he stood there, you reached into your bag and pulled out the lounge bottoms Jacques commonly wore in his estate. He smiled as you handed them to him, gladly putting them on.
You slowly removed the towel wrapped around his head. Drying the rest of his wild hair and whatever was left on his clean shaven face.
Then, you lead him over to a feathery bed with ALOT of fur blankets. You were going to have a meal brought to him when you noticed he was fast to sleep. You changed into your night clothes and blew out the candles. You then crawled in beside him. It was chilly, so you pulled the blankets up over your noses. You were so glad to be facing him again in a warm bed. As the fire cracked, you fell asleep too.
