Jacques arrived back first. Full of worry and panic about the ''on coming threat.'' He worried and paced more and more every minute you were away.
Finally, your carriage arrived before dark. Jacques ran outside and bear hugged you as you barely stepped out. It was quite unexpected to say the least. Theodora then stepped out behind you. You explained to Jacques that she would be staying awhile. He was fine with it, in fact he called for servants to draw her a bath and prepare a meal just for her.
After they took her inside, Jacques held your head and placed his lips on your forehead. ''Is everything all right?'' he said as his hands moved to hold your back. '' Yes, everything is fine, not to worry,'' you said as your hand cupped his cheek. He closed his eyes and leaned into your hand. His expressions were a give away that something was going on or maybe it was just stress.
You both went inside as Jacques called for your dinner to be served in your room. When you made it to your chambres, you turned around and quickly walked to him. ''I can't stand to see you like this, please tell me what's wrong?!'' you said holding his head. ''I will.....in time,'' he said as his hand held your wrist.
A knock on the door interrupted you both. It was one of the servants with dinner. ''Thank God,'' you thought. The past month, you were RAVENOUS over food. This baby was ALWAYS hungry! Roasted goat with quite a few sides was on the menu tonight. Followed by some lemon cakes.
You piled your plate and sat on the bed to eat. Jacques filled his plate too and sat in the desk chair. Both of you did not speak since food was constantly in your mouth. He found it a little amusing to watch you eat. After you finished off your dinner, you attacked desert. ''Don't choke now,'' Jacques said as he watched you. He took some of the cakes too. You must of been really hungry, he thought as he watched you eat.
It was raining and storming outside and he just wanted to spend time with you tonight. After you both finished eating, both of you cleaned up. Jacques called in servants to collect the plates and place more wood on the fire. After, you were going behind the shade to change into your nightclothes. Jacques gently grabbed your hand. ''No, stay with me for now,'' he gently said. He slowly took you by the fire and slowly began to undress. You did too. After, he laid on the fur blankets on the couch. He entangled his lower body in extra fur blankets. You then laid on your side on him as he laid at a three fourth angle.
You laid your head on his chest as he stroked your head. You closed your eye's as your scalp was being massaged and the flames warmed your skin. Your child seemed to be at rest to since it was now full and satisfied. Lightning flashed and the rain picked up outside. All of a sudden, something within you spoke to you. You raised your head slightly.
''It's a boy,'' you said quietly.
Jacques knitted his brows. ''How do you know?'' he asked.
''I just do,'' you replied.
Jacques smiled and you both kissed as you resumed your previous pose. For the first time, he placed his hand on your stomach lightly. Inside, he was ESTATIC that you were having a boy, HIS SON.
You didn't like storms or lightening, so you hid your face in Jacques's neck as he held you to him. The lightning flashed and the thunder boomed loudly as you tried to shy away more. Jacques held you tighter. ''Sssh, I got you,'' he quietly said as he stroked your hair. Soon, you fell asleep on his warm body as the heat from the flames blanketed your skin.
He dreamed about what his son would look like, what he was going to teach him, and ideas for naming. Jacques slept the night away with a smile on his face.
The dim sunlight peered through the window the next day. It was still semi cloudy and rainy outside. Jacques woke first to find you still asleep on him. Your head was a little warm. You woke up as he felt your warm cheeks too. Both of you had read about this. Morning sickness. You quickly got up a threw up into one of the empty dinner bowls from last night. It really frightened Jacques when you wouldn't stop and fell to your knee's crying. He quickly got dressed and placed you in one of his big old shirts. He carried you to the bed and gently laid you down. ''Shall I fetch the doctor?'' he asked. You understood his concern and touched his face. ''There is no need,'' you quietly said.
''You need something to eat, you BOTH do since your body has drained you,'' Jacques said. You liked that he was showing his ''concerned parent'' side, it made you feel less alone. You gave Jacques a nod to get you something to eat.
As Jacques left the room, you laid on the bed in silence. You placed a hand on your stomach also wondering what you son was going to look like, what to teach him and what to NAME him. Jacques returned with a covered plate. He sat beside you and revealed what the chef made for you. A pork steak, three scrambled egg's, and two pieces of bread fried in butter. ''Open wide,'' he playfully said with the fork with egg. He was feeding you like when you were injured. After a few bites, you took over. He gladly let you as he handed you the plate and you ate, feeding the one inside too.
When you finished, you placed the plate on the side table and laid back on the bed. Pregnancy was becoming tiresome. Now that you and your little one had some food, you wanted to nap only have just gotten up a few hours ago. Jacques understood and closed the shades and had the servants bring firewood and comfortable blankets. He sat beside you as he covered you up.
He held your hand on your stomach as you fell asleep. He kissed your forehead then stood up. Quietly, he walked to the door and closed it quietly as he left.
Theodora had emerged from her room. For her, it was nice to have a full stomach for once. She seen Jacques close the door and approached him with concern. ''Is everything alright?'' she asked. ''Yes, just taking a nap after a little spell,'' he replied.
Awkward silence hung in the air until Jacques spoke. ''I never got to thank you for removing the arrows AND freeing her out from the clutches of that HORRIBLE man,'' he said. She smiled. ''She wanted it too, I could hear her soul cry and I heard yours too when I seen you,'' she responded.
Jacques couldn't argue with that. That separation killed him! He then came out of his thoughts. ''We have a huge library downstairs if you like. You don't have to remain inside either, take a horse out for a ride if you want to,'' Jacques offered. ''YOU DO?! I will gladly check them out and thank you so much for your hospitality!'' Theodora exclaimed.
