He sat up from your body quickly and cleared his eyes with the back of his palms. ''I'm sorry about that,'' Jacques said.

''For what? You don't have to apologize for being human,'' you said.

Jacques have you a quick nod and turned away to hide and clear his face. You noticed that the servants haven't cleaned in here yet. Another spontaneous idea popped into your head. You took his semi bandaged hand in yours and softly said, ''follow me.''

You both stood up. You gripped a little more on Jacques's hand and walked toward your conjoined chamber door. He held you back a second before you pressed forward and opened one of the double doors.

As you both walked in, you let Jacques sit on your little couch. Jasmine scented smoke started to fill the air as you lit your hanging incense lantern. Jacques looked around your room. You had it well made, after all, you were the daughter of a well known lord.

Jacques noticed a book on the little table in front. He grabbed it and opened it. It was the same book he read out of at Count Pierre's gathering. ''You speak Latin too?'' he asked.

''Learning is more like it,'' you responded.

''I'll be glad to help you.....if you want,'' Jacques said.

You finished with the incense lantern and then sat beside him. ''I'd like that,'' you said smiling at him. He smiled back at you, more like grinned as a hidden spark ignited  between you two. You both found yourselves staring into each other's eyes for a few seconds before snapping out of it.

You have read about these feelings, but NEVER REALLY felt them. Not even with the suitors your father lined up. This feeling felt kind of ''dangerous,'' but you didn't care. It was exciting and new and you wanted to see we're it would take you.

Both of you got comfortable after Jacques took your lead. You opened up the book and started were you left off. You both read for a good amount of the day. Jacques teaching you the words, how to pronounce some and define what they mean.

A servant came in and told you that dinner would be ready soon. You looked at Jacques who looked a little tired from the day and had the servants bring dinner to you both tonight. ''Go if you must, don't waste pity on me,'' Jacques said as he later his head on the back of the sofa. You joined him and looked at him, ''It's no problem really.''

Jacques closed his eyes, smiled, and made a small hum. You were looking at his hair wondering what styling could be done with his hair. There was a knock on the door that snapped you out of your little trance. You stood up and answered the door. Since you both were going to eat in your room, the servants rolled in a fancy cart.

The chefs had put together some roasted partridge with potatoes, vegetables , and bread. Both of you had your own individual plates. A pitcher of wine was present too with two goblets. The servants left and you both took your plates and dug in.

Both of you ate in awkward silence. Catching glances at each other when the other wasn't watching. You were finished with your wine for the evening, but Jacques kept drinking. You weren't exactly sure if it was just nerves or the fact that he liked to drink.

He drank until the pitcher was empty. You knew he was quite drunk. It was a big pitcher. He didn't have to move around or talk, you could tell by his dialated pupils. He stood up and automatically vomited, then he continued to drink the last of his wine.

You knew he was not alright and did not want to leave him alone, not knowing what he might do. He could reopen wounds or make new ones. The servants had cleaned your floor and lit some candles.

Jacques had sat back down on your sofa.

''Come here,'' you said softly and signaled. Jacques did as you commanded. As he stood in front of you, you slowly peeled his shirt off. You did your best to avoid the bandages and the exposed wounds. His trousers were left on as you had him sit on the bed. You then removed his boot's and had him lie down as you covered him up.

You put out some of the candles and let the moonlight light paths instead. The drunk state had put Jacques to sleep. His dark long hair was scattered all over his face. You decided to strip naked and change into your white nightgown in the middle of the room.

You then took a single candle from a side table and walked with it to your bedside table and set it down. You then placed ''softening powder'' on your skin. It made your skin look more porcelain color and smelled of lavender and floral scents.

Jacques was already asleep as you laid down slowly. He was on his stomach passed out with his head laying on top of his arms. You turned to your side to look at him. Even with bandages, his back muscles were very apparent. His hair was scattered all over his face. You combed your finger's through his hair, pushed some back, and tucked the rest behind his ear's.

Lastly, you pulled the blanket up over his shoulders. You turned back and faced the other way too. You then blew your candle out. As the room went dark, you went to sleep.
