Amassed with tranquility, lined with dim red lights and seldom whispering of the wind, the parking lot of the Min Corporations looked like it could summon the demons of the underworld and the fact it was late into the night seamed the picture vividly.

Y/n's fingers tapped against the steering wheel, eyes frequently glancing at her watch, "Where's he?" She grumbled.

A few minutes of her restlessness and the door to the passenger seat opened, "You're late," She scoffed at the figure settling in beside her.

"Your brother wouldn't let me," Grunted Namjoon slamming a file onto her lap. Unable to contain her curiosity any longer, she ruffled the file open and let her eyes intake the amount of information printed on the ivory pages.

"Hoseok was a drug mule?" Amazed Y/n repeating the sentence imprinted on the page of the file which enclosed every detail Namjoon could ransack about Jung Hoseok.

"Fun fact, he swallowed a hundred and twenty-six capsules of heroin on his very first trip voluntarily," Namjoon enunciated earning Y/n's awe.

"Desperate and daring," She astonished.

"Very. Apparently, Jung was a runaway at nineteen years old," Y/n cocked her eyebrows but didn't utter a breath and let her mind unravel into the letters.

Jung Hoseok, a man who came from nowhere, nobody knew where he was born or raised only that he was a runaway. Taken in by the East Busan syndicates as a drug mule, Hoseok started his rebirth. From there he was determined to take things south, and rooted a name of fear in the squalor and grandeur not only in the east but the whole of Busan and earned the righteous title of the most trusted companion of the Busan's deadly authorities. It was good while it lasted until Hoseok collapsed the empire as a mole and backstabbed the authorities who trusted him, therefore, being crowned as the ruler of Busan. All in less than seven years, a body of twenty-five years old and soul of hundreds earned by struggles and maturity to strive the sins of the underworld.

Everything became privy as he climbed the higher stones of the hierarchy, the last resource known before he went into the shadows to take his second rebirth as a lawyer was that he worked with the mysterious head of Gyeonsangnam do, a few years before landing on Park's empire. (If y'all forgot about Gyeonsangnam do head refer to the Chapter 17| Who won?)

On reaching the page of Jung Hoseok's past and present relationships and companions, Y/n saw what she had least expected, the parchment was almost blank. As said since Jung was a runaway, they couldn't track the parental relations but as for mates and partners, it mentioned he didn't quite take the pleasure in forming a bond except if it was for power and we all know what a relationship is formed by power, a civil one, nobody cares, nobody trusts.

"So a man with no one he particularly loves or cares?"

"Yes, a dangerous combo," Dangerous would be an understatement, every life exists on a spectrum of balance between two extreme ends; hate and love, when one shatters, the other overpowers, it blinds, the emotional indifference gives birth to evil. But thriving in the underworld breaks the laws, love is considered to be a weapon, if you fail to manage and secure it properly it kills the owner.
