More than an age
Before life came to be
The sun and the Moon fell in love
And then for a while
They lived happily
Together they shone up above
But then came a darkness
Which dampened the skies
Where the moon and the sun liked to play
The Gods, they demanded a love torn apart
So the beings below them could stay
The sun was confined in a world of light
The moon in a prison of dark
Destined forever to live on alone
Until the whole world fell apart
The fair moon wasn't strong
Like her lover would be
She could no longer shine quite so bright
Her life dripped away like glittering tears
In pools that shimmer at night
The sun saw her darken
And cried out in fear
Such a thought he should loose her sweet glow
So he mustered his courage
And all of his strength
To let his full brilliance show
So now, once a year
When they meet in the sky
The two lonely lovers can dance
Light once so vital we tore them apart
An eternities broken romance
