Clearsight stood there in front of the cave, her eyes transfixed upon the single piece of night heading towards her. The darkness gained form, revealing to be a NightWing.
He's here...
Darkstalker landed beside Clearsight, dirt spreading all over her. He tucked his wings in, looking at her with curious expression.
Clearsight took a deep breath. "Did you know that Agate Mountain will not be the tallest mountain for much longer?"
Darkstalker said nothing.
"An earthquake will happen. The rocks will slide and-"
"I know how an earthquake works, Clearsight," Darkstalker said, his voice echoing in the cave. "Besides, if it bothers you so much that this mountain won't be the tallest anymore, I could simply protect it from the earthquake, or even stop it from hap-"
"I don't want that to happen, Darkstalker." Clearsight hesitated to say his name.
Darkstalker calmly sat down beside her. "Then why tell me about it?"
"The mountain won't last forever. Something will happen, causing it to fall. Then, Jade Mountain will rise up and be the tallest."
"Is this about me?" Darkstalker asked. "My plan to usurp Vigilance has worked? Or are you implying something else perhaps."
Clearsight looked back at Darkstalker, his eyes still emotionless and devoid of any remorse or understanding.
"If this is about Arctic, I did what I had to. You have seen him before, you've seen what he's done. You know why I had to kill him."
"You didn't have to kill him like that, in front of hundreds of dragons and forcing him to-"
"I don't understand why you've been behaving this way, Clearsight," Darkstalker said. "All of the futures I see are good. Ones where we live happily and peacefully, isn't that what you want?" He looked at Clearsight, though he stared at her as if she was just a misbehaving animal.
"You've been abusing your magic," Clearsight said. "You've been talking about overthrowing the queen and killing all of those innocent IceWings-"
"They would've killed us instead, Clearsight." Darkstalker's voice was more agitated now. "Is that what you want? I would protect my tribe, stop them from harming us and any others."
Clearsight stayed silent, looking at her talons.
"I thought so," he said. "You don't seem to be able to understand what I'm doing. I'm doing this for the tribe, for us." Darkstalker put his wing around Clearsight.
Clearsight stepped away from Darkstalker. "No, you're doing this for yourself. You just want to rule over the NightWings- the entire content!"
"You're in distress, Clearsight." Darkstalker moved towards, lifting his talons up hesitantly. "I understand. Arctic dying may have been traumatizing for some, but it's what needed to happen."
"It didn't need to happen," Clearsight argued back. "You killed your father by forcing him to tear out his stomach!"
"That's enough, Clearsight," Darkstalker said, his voice raising. "When your senses have returned, you'll realize what I've done is for the best."
Darkstalker then paused for a bit, stating right at Clearsight. A moment or two later, bewilderment flashed in his eyes. "Did you use my scroll? Fathom did something to you, didn't he?"
Clearsight felt nothing had happened, but she just stared in shock at Darkstalker. "Did you try to enchantment me?!"
Darkstalker hesitated. "Yes, I did. It was to calm you down."
Clearsight stepped back from Darkstalker out of fear. "What is wrong with you?"
"Nothing," Darkstalker snapped. "You went behind my back, stole my scroll, and manipulated Fathom into-"
"Manipulated?! He was trying to protect me from you! You're going to destroy everything!"
"I will not!" Darkstalker stomped in front of Clearsight, the nearby rocks rumbling and the ground shaking.
Clearsight was overwhelmed with visions. Lots of them had displayed violent ends to this conversation, but there was one... one that showed she'd make it out okay.
"You are a maniac," Clearsight said. "You're selfish and- and power hungry and insane! I can't believe I loved you... You're just like Arctic-"
"That's enough!" Darkstalker's voice crackled like lightning and echoed like thunder. In a swift motion, he latched onto Clearsight's talons, twisting them and clenching hard.
Pain jolted through Clearsight as fear ensnared her. She looked back at Darkstalker, malice showing in his eyes.
"I am NOTHING like Arctic," he yelled. "If you aren't happy with what I'm doing, with what I'll do when I'm king, then you're going to either learn to like it, or end up just like Arctic."
Clearsight felt tears falling down as she saw her chance. She took her free talons and grabbed onto the bracelet.
In just a few short seconds, Clearsight slid the moonstone bracelet off of her and onto Darkstalker.
