Richard's P.O.V

I made my way into the bustling airport, cardboard sign digging into my hands. My husband, Karim, was coming home today. I was really happy to see him again, but something nagged me in the back of my mind. That something was Chris.

I had visited him a few days prior to my trip to the airport and he was in high spirits. I can't say I didn't find it disturbing. His happiness was too sudden and seemed fake. I came close to asking about the abrupt change of attitude but there was no need. The cause of Chris' giddiness found me.

I was walking out of the door to my car when a rather lean, good looking man ran into me. He had sandy blond hair and brown doe eyes.

"Sorry!"he called out as he stood up and walked into the apartment I had just came from. I stood there for awhile, trying to figure out what had just happened. I never quite figured out what was going on...but I do know Chris hasn't moved on. he wouldn't be dating anyone new. Whatever he is up too, it's not going to end well for either of them.

I sighed and held up the sign as I got closer to the mass of other military families. My eyes went wide as I saw the face of one person I didn't really want to see.

"Richard! Hello! How are you doing?" a shrill voice pierced my ears. I turned to my left and came face to face with Angela Rodriguez. She was the wife of one of Karim's commanders, and thought that we were best friends just because our husbands worked together.

"Hi, Angela. I'm fine, you?" I growled through closed teeth. She proceeded to chatter on about her stupid book club and her child's bake sale. Angela doesn't even make good cookies, they taste like literal death. I don't mean that in a figurative way either, I mean literal stinking, rotting corpses.

Angela droned on as I became lost in my thoughts again. I barely noticed a the monotone voice announced overhead that Flight 4327 was landing. I straightened my back and craned my neck over the crowd that formed in front of me. When I saw Karim walk in though, I didn't care about the crowd anymore. I shoved the people in front of me out of the way, giving a satisfied smile as Angela shrieked and Karim met my arms.

Coming home from the airport we stopped at McDonald's and got food.
"So, you're saying Chris is using this kid to fill Jesse's place?" Karim questioned as he shoved a fry in his mouth.
I glanced at him in the passenger seat. He was sitting with his feet up, hanging out of the window, and eating french fries. I sighed and said," Yea, it looks that way. I saw the kid running into his apartment and he's way too happy and he's got too much food for one person in his fridge."

"Well this is good then isn't it? I mean, not so much that he could be using the guy, but at least he's making the effort to move on." Karim says matter-of-factly.I stare forward. For once, I hope Karim is wrong. I hope Chris isn't using that guy. I hope he moves on but I hope he doesn't do it this way.
