All four of them went home and were welcomed by a rather agitated crowd. Their faces dropped when they saw all four of them feeling down. They all sighed in sadness knowing the proposal didn't go well. They were about to turn around when Roger suddenly screamed. "She said, 'YES'!" and without missing a beat, the crowd cheered loudly, "Haza!". CC was mostly overjoyed and couldn't help but hug both Eliza and Eve. Apparently, she came late for the party because she picked up the ring and had to arrange Beth and Anthony's arrival. Since the night is still young, yet another party begins.
Everybody congratulated the couple and was already excited about the wedding. The room was lively and as the couple went around, Evelyn saw her mother on the balcony. "Still not a fan of parties, I believe."
"Just needed some fresh air," Beth replied with a rather sad smile. Evelyn joined her in silence. She then turned to see her daughter. "You're all grown up. The last time I saw you, you were this happy little girl showing me her achievements. Now, I just couldn't believe you're a woman engaged to her beloved."
Eve couldn't find any words as this was the first time her mother had spoken to her with such a connection. "Honestly, when I heard you came back home, I was excited and afraid at the same time to see you. I didn't know what to do what would Anthony think or what I would think if we ever crossed paths. I sent a butler to fetch you, thinking I finally had the courage to apologize, but I was petrified when I saw you and couldn't make anything out of the situation." Beth sighed leaving Evelyn thinking, "She was scared?"
"When you came home with him, I was overjoyed seeing that you two have made amends, but I was and still am haunted by the things I had done to you. I know you have forgiven me but I can't seem to forgive myself." Beth continued.
Evelyn, now free of her past, took a deep breath and smiled, "Well, I believe you can start by staying with us for a while and helping with the wedding. If that's okay with you."
Shocked at her daughter's response, Beth couldn't help but hug her tight and whisper, "I would love to." The moment was short but for both, it was all the time they needed to catch up with their lives. It felt like an eternity and no one was complaining. A hug. Though it may not be that much, it was enough.
...
The day of the wedding finally dawned upon the lovers. They were excited but also nervous. It was a simple ceremony with the ducklings as the guests along with Magnus, Albert, Eliot, Roger, Beth, Dr. Liam, and a few close friends who were supportive of the union.
Evelyn stood down the aisle waiting for her lover. With the ceremony about to start, she couldn't help but tap her foot. Seeing his sister get nervous, Albert stood closer to her and placed his hand on her shoulder. "You've got this. Don't worry." He whispered which calmed Evelyn's nerves. A minute then passed and then two, soon it became five, and then came almost half an hour. The crowd started to wonder where the bride could be. Beth could feel the uneasiness of her daughter. She can't blame her though, because she did the same thing to Jo. "Karma shouldn't work this way." she thought to herself, trying to feel the pain, Jo felt that day. She could see Evelyn worrying that no one was answering the phone at the hotel room she stayed in. CC was also nowhere to be found and so is Eliot. "Something must've happened? Where are you, Liz?" she thought to herself.
Eve left the altar in a hurry, shocking everyone. "Where are you going?!" Albert shouted. "I'm going to find her!" she replied breathlessly.
"Just wait! She could be here any minute." Albert screamed frantically after her. Seeing that Evelyn was not stopping, he grabbed her arm. "Eve!"
"What?!" Eve's eyes were filled with fear. Albert, on the other hand, softened his expression and looked at her. "Breathe. Calm down. She'll be here and if not, we'll find her." Thankfully, his words calmed her down. Roger and Beth then followed behind. "What if something happened to them and I'm not there to protect her?" Eve breathed out.
