Soaring through the clouds, Eliza couldn't help but peer outside the plane window as her imagination began working its magic. Dragons broke through the fluffy clouds along with mermaids diving from one to another. All of them then hid behind the sun as an enormous blue whale emerged with a figure behind its back. It was the most beautiful creature Eliza saw. It was almost translucent as it had the same colors as the sunset. Soon it dived down and a balloon floated up. A little girl was holding on to it. She was wearing a colorful dress that reflected the sun. It must've been the figure from the whale earlier. She then waved at her and Eliza returned the gesture. But soon the images began to fade as Eliza's eyes grew heavy.
Noticing that the young woman was sleepy, Evelyn tapped her shoulder and signaled to rest. Eliza obliged and rested her head on Eve's shoulder holding the older woman's arm.
The plane was bound for London and as much as it pains Evelyn, she couldn't do much with the ducklings coming along with them. By not doing much she means she couldn't resist Eliza begging her to say yes. And now she's stuck with five more people.
They eventually arrived at the hotel they booked. Evelyn sighed in relief when they entered their room. "Finally, some quiet." she thought. There was only one bed, so Eliza didn't hesitate to conquer it as she plopped herself down spreading her arms and legs. Mind you, it was a queen-sized bed, but she made it look like it's only good for one person. Evelyn didn't mind though as she wasn't that tired, plus she had somewhere to be.
"Aren't you going to sleep?" Eliza asked not moving an inch.
"No. I told you already that I have an appointment." She replied while freshening up. "And judging by your position, I don't think there's enough room." She chuckled. Eliza then shuffled on the bed making herself sit down and pout. "Do you have to go now?"
"I'm still waiting for Magnus." She replied, adding the final touches to her lips. "Can't you go tomorrow?" A knock was then heard from the door. "I'm afraid it's too late to cancel," she said, walking over to Eliza, giving her a kiss on the forehead. "I'll see you later."
Once opened, the door revealed a fine-looking gentleman who took off his hat upon seeing Evelyn. He was the same height as Evelyn, had fair skin and a pair of piercing crystal-like blue eyes. "Ready to go?" He spoke in a deep British voice. Evelyn nodded before waving goodbye to Eliza who did the same. The man then looked at her and slightly bowed with a smile, and the pair finally left.
...
"I must say, it's been so long since I've seen you. Might I also add that you look lovely, Evelyn," Magnus chirped out.
"Thank you, Magnus. You look fine as well."
"Thank you. Although it saddened me that you quit your practice, I am happy that it seems worth it."
"Oh, what made you say that?"
"That young woman in your room was your lover, was she not?"
"And you know that because?"
"The way you both look at each other." He replied, making Evelyn smirk.
"It seems that time did not affect your skills, detective."
Smiling, Magnus replied, "It appears so."
The pair then went inside a cab that took them to the courthouse. Upon entering, Evelyn couldn't help but breathe in the nostalgia.
"I take it that a part of you misses this?" Magnus smiled.
"I must admit, I do," Evelyn replied eyeing the place. "So how bad is it?"
