Chapter 35 - busted

Maddie's POV

Four days after Emmy is born I haven't let her out of my arms other than when Izzy wants her. Izzy is in love with her and so am I, Emmy is beautiful.

"Maddie, it's been four hours," Lance tells me as I rub Emmy's sleeping frame. "Shut up you get to be with her every day when I'm gone. She needs some time with her Aunt Maddie why Izzy is recovering." I tell him as Izzy sleeps on my lap. She's asleep on my legs with Emmy in my arms and I'm loving it.

"She's my little niece!" I exclaim rubbing her little chubby cheeks in my hands. "And my daughter," he tells me as he sits beside me and rubs Emmy's little feet.

"Let me hold her for a little while longer" I smile at her. "You aren't ready for one yet?" he asks as my eyes bulge. "Heck no," I answer back as he smiles.

"Yeah, until Lexington wants a son" he mumbles. "What's that supposed to mean?" I ask him. "Oh you know, you're going to want one soon. I mean look at Emmy and tell me you don't want a daughter" he tells me.

"You may be right, fine. She is beautiful. But the pain Izzy was in. I don't think I could handle it." I whisper as he looks at Izzy in my lap.

"Yeah, I don't think I could handle that pain either. She's a trooper," he tells me as I sigh rubbing Emmy softly.

"Of course she is. You would have laid on the table crying and passed out you softy." I tell him as he laughs.

"Show me the rings," I mumble as he sighs. "What?" he asks as I nod.

"Show me what you've picked out for Izzy, I know you. How long have you been thinking about it?" I ask him.

"Honestly I thought I would plan out this big elaborate thing but at that moment, I just wanted to ask right then," he tells me as I smile. He pulls out his phone as we make sure Izzy is sleeping on my legs passed completely out.

"I was thinking the gold band like yours, but she likes the different shape I'm pretty sure," he tells me as I nod. He's right. He pulls out a few, and the first couple isn't something she'd really love.

That's before we start searching through the website and see the custom sets. We design one together and pick out the diamond size and everything. "It will take a few months, hopefully before she wants to get married," he tells me as he puts in his credit card.

"Do you have ten thousand dollars to drop on an engagement ring? You aren't employed right now." I tell him as he nods.

"I'm using my college account. Mom and dad said I could have it as long as I keep my scholarship," he mumbles as I nod.

"If you need money just ask okay? Like for Emmy, anything." I tell him as he sighs.

"I have it covered, plus I'm going to start personal training like dad. So I think it'll be okay." he smiles as she starts wiggling in my arms. She opens her eyes a little to start crying as he quickly runs into the kitchen grabbing a bottle of Izzy's breast milk and warming it up as I keep her calm.

I finally give her over to Lance when Izzy jumps up suddenly. "Fuck me" she whispers immediately as I smile. I call it her mom talent, she can jump up any second she senses Emmy being fussy.

"I just want to sleep" she mumbles laying her feet on my lap as she lays back on the couch making me laugh. "She's fine, was hungry" I mumble as Izzy watches Lance feed her.

"Good. I love y'all so much but my vagina hurts and I'm going to a warm shower if you don't mind and I'll come back and get her," she tells me as I nod.
