Land or Sea

It was a normal day, just like any day. But..it was nearing the time the humans called, Christmas. The seas got colder and their scales and clothes grew thicker to adjust. School ended as Marinette was swimming over to Master Fu's with Tikki. They had arrived and swam through the ship as they saw him drinking tea.

Marinette: Hey Master.

Fu: Marinette, Tikki. It's nice to see you both again. How may I be of assistance?

Marinette: Master, I was wondering...would it be possible to travel to and from the surface and sea without a full moon?

Fu: I-I...- I'm not sure...

Marinette: Master, is something wrong? Your heart rate slightly increased.

Fu: *sigh* I fell in love with a human girl. I saved her once. I found her drifting off at sea and decided to help her. I swam her to the island. I stayed with her during that entire time until she woke up. She was very beautiful. She accidentally saw me so I had to flee to the ocean. Though...I couldn't bring myself to forget about her. I'd always check up on her but then realised she been going without food. So..I helped.
One day, I brought some food to the island but to my horror she was out in the water trying to swim off. I hurried over and took her back to the shore.

Fu: After that, we spent everyday together. I'd bring her food and we'd talk for hours. I found out her name was Marianne. I also found out that...I'd fallen in love with that girl, but both of us would be at an inconvenience because we were of two completely different worlds.
One day when I came and visit, she was no longer waiting near the shore. I was beginning to get scared, worried, at what might've happened to her. And to make matters worse, tonight was a full moon, I couldn't stay out for too long. The night finally came and I was back at my shipwreck with some of the lilies when a knock came at my door.
I opened it to see Marianne.

Marinette: She was just like the boys. She was affected by that full moon too.

Fu: Yes, but at first I thought it was a bad thing to have a human disguised as a mermaid so I always kept her close.
But later on during the first 2 years, I came to see that this was probably a blessing in disguise. We swam around near the pool, playing among the coral rocks in the reef. That's when she stumbled upon a cave. We explored venturing deeper in until we found an underwater air pocket. It was beautiful.
We also came across very unique crystal rocks. We took one sample back to the ship and experimented on it.

Marinette: You mean..this crystal?

Master Fu looked closely at the crystal Marinette had around her neck tied to a golden chain. His eyes widened.

Fu: Yes. You found it.
These crystals have the same power and magnetic distortions as the full moon. Meaning it can..-

Marinette: Turn Me Into A Human And Back To A Mermaid Without The Full Moon!

Fu: Indeed. But we are unsure of the limits these crystals possess.
If you are planning on going up to the surface, I think it is wise to at least inform your family about it but don't tell them the location.

Marinette: *nods* You can count on me, Master.
Come on, Tikki, let's go.

Tikki: Thanks again, Master. Bye.

And with that, they left. They arrived back at the bubble to see Marin waiting for them with his arms folded. "Where have you two been?" he questioned with a brow raised. Marinette stared at him, "Come, I need to speak with you and maman and papa." He followed her back to the house.

Marinette: Maman, Papa. I have something to show you.

Sabine: What is it, sweetie.

Marinette: It's this crystal.

Tom: The one you've been wearing for almost the entire year? What about it?

Marinette: Now, you all have to promise that you won't tell anyone about it.

Tom/ Sabine: *nods*

Marinette: Ok..Marin!?

Marin: Yes, yes, whatever.

Marinette: This crystal can somehow give me the power to go back and forth from the surface to the sea at anytime I please without the full moon.

Sabine: Where did you find that?

Marinette: I can't tell you, but it can, which means that I can go to the surface and live under the water as I feel.
Isn't this great!?

Tom: Yes, but how can we guarantee that you'll come back once you're up there?

Marinette: It's called trust.
So...what do you guys think? You already said I can go with the guys when the full moon arrives. I can still do that..but I can also come back whenever I want.

Marin: What about me?

Marinette: Well..you can always go up there for 3 years and stay down here the rest of your life. That's an option.

Marin: No way am I allowing you to travel to and from the surface at any time you want.

Marinette: Well, it's not about you, Marin, it's about me.
I already told you guys that you can trust me.
Maman, Papa, look me in the eyes and tell me that I won't keep my word.

They looked straight into her eyes and saw the sincerity and honesty hidden within. They sighed looked at each other before answering.

Tom: Sigh, ok...

Marinette: Really!?

Sabine: Yes, honey. But please, keep your word.

Marinette: YES!! Don't worry, I will!

Marin: *groan* Why are you like this...
