Today is Friday, the most awaited day of the week. In this usual time, I am without worry after stepping out of campus. Nothing compares to the peace of mind this day brings, but now is a different story. I was brought as the fourth wheel. I don't see the reason why I am here. Stuck with them just for a possibility that Tristan will do what he promised. I'm such a fool. Baited by a trick and now I find myself doing the opposite of my lifestyle.
We're walking through the crowds of the mall. Seemed like everyone cares about their own. Same as me. The building's big enough. Lots of light reflecting the glasses of each establishments carrying the sweet scent of capitalism. Products that attracts your mind in buying it. Tricking us into taking the things we don't really need and satisfying our minds with whatever we got in our hands. Not saying that I am immune to the scent. Sometimes, my hands automatically takes what they offer. Not in a malicious way, of course. Entertainment is the biggest factor. A sentient mind wouldn't be sentient enough if it do not want to experience something that raises dopamine levels.
Speaking of dopamine levels, the two girls of our group surely is having good time. We just entered the clothes branch. They giggle about the dresses that mesmerize their eyes. Then they check the make ups and other beauty products. Both of them were the target customers. Looking at the brand and what it is made.
"Starting to think it is a bad idea?" I asked Tristan. He looks bored. He definitely should.
"Dresses and make ups aren't my thing."
"Shit, and I thought you're enjoying it already"
"Bad joke, Virgil. Not funny at all."
As expected, Tristan's getting clouded in his mind. His interests differs too much from theirs. That is the punishment you have atone for trying to interact with them.
"I have an idea" telling Tristan about what sprouted in my brain a second ago.
"What is it?"
"Why don't we leave unknowingly? They're distracted afterall" I proposed to this jackass. This is my secret technique.
"Dumbass" he uttered. Couldn't believe I'd even say that. "Just like you always do?"
"It's proven to be effective. You say to me how it always goes."
"Even more reason why I have to deny."
"Why?"
"It will leave a bad taste in the mouth."
"Hmmm, not in my case."
"It does in my case."
A small silence emerged while we leaned our back on the wall. Maybe because of how bored we are. But I proposed yet another plan to flip the tables to the favorable side.
"Why don't you take the lead?"
"What do you mean?"
"Ya know, take charge of the group and actually lead the way yourself?"
"But how?"
"You tell me. Do I look like an assertive person to you?"
"Goddamn it, Virgil. Just say what you have to say."
I sighed. Out of the two of us, Tristan have the extroverted personality. It's easy for him to do what I say, but he don't know how to execute it. I've never even led a group. I'm in the sidelines for every affiliation I had.
"I mean... just tell them where we have to be."
"Easy to say."
"You're not getting interested to make ups, don't you?"
