Birds chirped, the Sun shone peacefully in the sky, and even the cold breeze was relaxing
It was the morning after you brought Anna Marie to the Institute. Charles and Moira welcomed her with open arms and even got her included in your Tutor Program group to help her adjust
Things had gotten fairly quiet since then. The headteachers even organized a trip to the museum, a field trip for their classes. They even invited you to come along, but you ultimately turned them down. Truth to be told, this silent atmosphere gave you plenty of space to think
The recent events at the warehouse were still fresh in your mind, especially when Anna Marie was having a video call with you from the museum. They insisted she came along, but she felt like an outsider, so she turned to you
Anna Marie: And I'm really grateful for what you did, I am, but...
You: But it feels too good to be true?
With a saddened gaze, she nodded
Anna Marie: I've been running all mah' life. I was starting to think that I was less than them just for bein' a mutant
Then she looked at the building that could be seen behind you
Anna Marie: And then I hear that there's this safe haven for people like me. Where everyone is just so friendly and I...I don't know if I deserve it. To be honest
You: Oh, Anna...
Not far from where you were, was another mutant. One whose view of the world as also radically affected by humans when they showed their worst side yet, and he lived to see it, in World War II
???: Now we will see, Xavier, how firm are your foundations...
???: ...When the wolf is at your door
The master of magnetism floated near the school grounds, with missiles at the ready, aching to turn this entire place into ashes
???: The time has come at last, Charles, to make you...
As he talked, the man was then taken off-guard when he realized the amount of silence there was. It felt strange, unusual from a place that was usually filled to the brim with people
???:...understand?
As he approached the scene, he found you sitting by yourself now completely silent as the call with Anna Marie was cut short by the rest of the group continuing with the tour
What caught this intruder's attention was just how distraught you looked, especially for someone so young as you. He thought you were one of Charles's students just by looking at you
Now, this man disagreed with Xavier on a fundamental level, enough to be considered his archenemy, but that didn't mean he was indifferent to the suffering of others
If anything, you reminded him of himself when he was younger. Alone, full of doubt, even a little afraid. Hmm. Perhaps now wasn't the best moment for this approach
