Fear
The most loyal companion you had from the minute you discovered your mutant abilities
You had been hunted, stabbed, burnt, nearly assassinated even by those who called you a son not long ago
It was just as suffocating as the fire they surrounded you with. All-consuming, seemingly eternal
But it wasn't
When the man who would become one of Earth's most feared gave you a second chance at life, it was a revelation, for you were able to see another side of the spectrum
He, as well as the sculptor, Keleman, taught you another concept that would forever blend into your soul:
Hope
That same hope drove you to the place you were now, despite all odds, despite all deviationsOne that you were so eager to call home, even if your stay here had not been long, it just felt right
"I'm telling you, if they didn't want to be set on fire they should make sure they're not flammable before trying to bully someone"
"Illyana!"
That of course, was Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters
With a smile, you leaned against your desk as you looked at the five students you had before you. The ones that you took under your wing
You: Illyana?
The students stopped their chatting to look at you
Illyana: Yes, coach?
You: Defending Kurt was very noble of you
The blonde smiled at the praise, perking up to strike a pose, much to her classmates' amusement
You: But do try not to burn others to a crisp next time, please
She groaned as she plummeted back to her seat. Kitty and Kurt patted her back shortly after
Kurt: I still appreciate it, mein Freund
Kitty: Yeah, you had the spirit
You couldn't help but smile at the scene, but then you caught a glimpse of Anna Marie sitting in the corner, keeping to herself as she answered the quiz you gave her
Douglas: What did you say this is for?
The boy caught your attention with the sheet of paper on his hand
You: Oh, it's just a little quiz to know you better
Kurt raised a brow
Kurt: Don't you know us already, Mr. L/N?
You: I do, but some things are too private to tell in public. That's what this is for
Anna Marie got up and walked straight to you, handing you the paper and being extra careful not to accidentally touch you
You: Thank you, Anna Marie
The girl, however, just nodded before she left the room, as you had instructed them
Of course, this didn't go unnoticed
Illyana: So, what's her deal?
Kitty narrowed her eyes at her friend
Kitty: Illy!
Douglas: You can't just ask someone what's their deal
The blonde turned to him with crossed arms
