A cry of agony could be heard before gloved hands reached the cold ground
Hands and knees became the support for the body as breathing became harder and harder
Powerful energy coursed through the being, igniting every nerve and muscle in a cruel attempt to take control
Such agony was felt by one Jean Grey
"Jean!"
Shakily, the young soul looked up to find her soulmate running towards her. Despite his eyes being concealed, worry and fear were written all over his face
Jean: S-Scott...
Suddenly, another creature dropped into view, a giant man clad in orange and blue, with every intent to neutralize them
Acting on instinct, Jean reached out and the ground beneath the man became unstable, forcing him to stay in place
And more importantly, giving Scott the perfect opportunity to blast him away
During this brief moment, Jean looked up at the stars to remember where she was
The blue area of the Moon, where the X-Men, her family, fought tooth and nail to spare her from an alien empire that in turn, wanted to spare the whole universe
The reason why, was the very same cause of her body tearing itself apart
Scott: Hold on! I got you
She felt herself being pulled up by Scott, him using his body to keep her on her feet
Scott: Hang tight, Jean
The X-Men had been around for a few years, fought their share of the unbeatable and came out on top
But this was, without a doubt, one of their darkest chapters
A blinding flash of light made Angel lose focus and crash into a structure
This was done by a member of the Imperial Guard, whose cape irradiated an overwhelming light
Logan: Lights out, darlin'!
