Roblox Piggy: The Novel

Chapter 6

He started towards me, axe in his hand.
"Doggy... it's me! It's Purple! We're best friends remember?" I couldn't keep the wobble out of my voice.
"Doggy please I don't want to hurt you." I backed away, trying to move my legs but they felt as heavy as bricks. A horrible pain was in my chest, as if my heart had been ripped out. Doggy was all I had. And now he was gone. I ran towards the exit, leaves crunching under foot. My jacket snagged on a bush and I turned around trying to yank it away. It finally ripped and I fell to the ground. Doggy came closer.
"Doggy it's me!" My voice cracked and tears started slipping down my cheeks. I rushed out the exit and slammed the fence door, slipping the hatch into the lock. Doggy's axe broke through the wood to my side of the fence. I rushed down the path away from him. There was an abandoned car at the side of the road. I rushed to it and closed the doors, crouching as low as I could to the floor. My body shook as I sobbed.
"No not Doggy. Please... why did it have to be him." I lay there in fetal position for awhile, crying. I was in this all by myself now. I truly was alone.
I thought of all the mysteries we had solved together. We had filled half of those jail cells. He had always been there for me. All of the moments we had together these past few days. Everything... gone.
A memory came flooding back to me...
"This will be your office. You'll be sharing it with Doggy." Doggy entered the room. He looked stunned to see someone like me in the police force but he quickly recovered.
"Nice to meet you." He said.
"You too." I smiled at him.
The memory caused me to cry more. Another one flooded my brain.
"Doggy!" I called rushing into his office, papers tucked under my arm. He looked up from his computer.
"What?"
"We overlooked something!" I showed him the papers.
"Purple... you're a genius!" I smiled at him.
"Let's go tomorrow."
"I'll tell chief."
I lay on the floor crying like a baby. Another memory filled my mind.
"Doggy?"
"Yeah?"
"We're friends right..?"
"Why wouldn't we be?"
" The other officers... they said you hated me." Tears fell down my cheek.
"They're lying Purple. You are absolutely my friend. I would never hurt you. " I looked up at him.
" Neither will I." I whispered.
"You liar!" I screamed, tears staining my face. "You lied you said you would never hurt me!" I wove my fingers through my hair, wanting to scream as loud as I could. "I didn't mean that, Doggy." I sobbed. I was having a rollercoaster of emotions and didn't know how to feel. I felt empty. Doggy wasn't there to protect me anymore. He wasn't there to help me when I was hurt and hold me when I was sad.
I lay there for a while, trying to convince myself to move. It felt like I was in water, moving at a slower speed, unable to process anything.
Something crackled in the front seat. I lifted my head.
"He-" a voice came through a small black walkie talkie in the front seat. I couldn't understand it through the static. The radio crackled again. "Hello? Is anyone out there." I wiped my eyes and grabbed the walkie talkie. I pressed the red button.
"Hello...?" I asked. There was a pause.
"Oh thank goodness you're alri-" the voice cut off again. "Rescue Bunny from the school."
"What? What school. Who are you?" I asked.
" Wait. You aren't... how did you get this radio?" The voice asked.
"My name is Purple. I don't know who you were trying to reach but this car was abandoned when I found it. I came in seeking shelter."
"Can you rescue my friend? The school is just down the road. About a mile away."
"How will I get there?"
"The keys should be in the car." I looked at the wheel. Keys were hanging from the ignition.
"I'll find your friend."
"Thank you!" The radio clicked. I leaned back, the weight of the world on my shoulders. If I couldn't save my friend, I could at least save someone. Else'.
