Song:
Catapult (Arctic Monkeys)
"Just think of what he's capable of with his kiss.""What's gotten you all smiley, huh?" Hope asked, stirring her mug of tea. Remus was scarily cheery this morning, humming as he made himself and Lyall a cup of coffee and even volunteered to help the man clean the attic, something he avoided like death.
"Oh, nothing." Remus mumbled, drinking some of his coffee. "Just slept well."
"So, this has nothing to do with a possible girlfriend?" Lyall asked, raising an eyebrow. This had been a common question since fifth year, when Sirius decided to introduce his "stable" relationship to his friends' parents, only to end up single again in a week's time.
Remus hesitated to answer, something that didn't go unnoticed by Hope. The woman set her mug down abruptly, spilling some tea on the hardwood table.
"REMUS JOHN LUPIN!" The woman exclaimed excitedly. "How dare you not tell your own mother you have a girlfriend?! I gave birth to you, mister! 14 hours in labor and this is how you repay me?"
"Dad."
"Don't look at me." Lyall said, raising his hands in defense. "I fainted the moment she started screaming."
"Pussy."
"Hope, language!" Lyall exclaimed, looking at his wife incredulously while Remus struggled to keep in his laughter. "Like mother like son..."
"I don't really understand what this accusation is about." Remus mumbled, smirking as he glanced at Hope. It had come as a big surprise to a much younger Lyall Lupin when his little boy came over to him, and started telling him about how a younger kid in school "shat himself".
"Back to the important topic," Hope said. "Did you finally get with Callisto?"
"Mum, this is awkward."
"So was pushing you out of my vagina, Remus."
"Ugh, fine, yes." Remus blurted out, feeling his cheeks heat up as the woman clapped excitedly. Lyall seemed rather perplexed, his eyebrows forming a frown. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Is she a good girl?"
Depends on how you define good...
"Yeah, she's very nice." Remus responded carefully, ignoring how wrong his claim truly was. "You must have seen her around, dad. She's the Claires' daughter, remember?"
"She's a sweetheart, Lyall." Hope smiled. "It's a shame you didn't meet her over Christmas."
"I suppose so."
"Remus, tell him more about her." Hope urged him, a wide grin on her lips.
"Well, ehm, she's a Slytherin." Remus started, trying to decide what he should tell his father about his borderline murderer of a girlfriend. "She grew up in Bulgaria with her aunt, and she's brilliant at Potions."
