Song:
Chiquitita (ABBA)
"You'll be dancing once again. And the pain will end."JANUARY 1997
Callisto thought that glimpses of the past would fade with time. It was just a smile, and yet she dreamt about it every night. That smile woke her up every night without fail, her body covered in sweat and an almost manic impression on her that she'd turn around and not find Remus by her side.
He was always there, curled right next to her. His arm was always over her, his wand inches away from his fingers and his body tense even when sleeping.
Sirius Black had died 7 months ago, and his smile was as alive in her memory as if a day hadn't passed.
Remus refused to visit his grave, Harry hadn't managed to attend his funeral. The shock was too much for him, and Madame Pomfrey had kept him under her care at school.
Sometimes, she felt as if she was the only one actually grieving. Yet, she knew it wasn't true. If that was true, she wouldn't be holding Remus close to her every day before every single thing in that damned house reminded them of him.
Hearing Remus cry was the worst thing she could go through.Callisto put on her coat, placing her wand in her pocket. She hadn't told anyone where she had been going almost every day for those past 7 months, yet nobody had really questioned it. Remus assumed she visited Narcissa, which she occasionally did. Unfortunately, after Lucius hit her with that curse and gifted her with a case of 3 broken ribs, she hadn't been able to constraint herself from fighting with him every time she saw him. So, they usually just went out for coffee to a neutral place.
Her heels clicked on the pavement as she walked to the bus station. Bus after bus, she arrived at the hill, taking her shoes off as she started to descend it.
There it was, that odd feeling of being followed.
She had had that ever since she walked outside the house, but she had ignored it.
She couldn't do that anymore."Harry, what the hell do you think you're doing?"
When she turned around, Harry Potter was standing behind her, with a sheepish expression in his eyes. James' invisibility cloak was in his hands, and he very much looked like someone caught with their hand in the cookie jar.
"Eh... walking."
"Right." She nodded. "Where to, exactly?"
He looked around him at the empty area, "You know... the ehm, the beach."
"Do you fancy a swim?"
"Dying for it."
"That's exactly what you would do, Potter." She snarked. "It's January. Ever heard of freezing to death?"
