Sagittaria
Watching sibling love scenes is always ... awkward. I mean, remember the Deadpool Code. Hate each other. Oh, and trust me, we follow that code. Very obediently.
So I kind of look away when Vienna kneels over Leilani, who is at least unconscious. Probably dead. I do consider myself optimistic, though.
I glance behind me out of reflex — Carina walks very lightly, but she's not behind me. She's darted towards Leilani and Vienna by now. The Darktales, clearly, are fine with not hating the world.
I might be concentrating on Leilani and Vienna a little too hard, because Ari places a hand on my shoulder, making me jump. Well, apparently Ari also walks quietly. Or my hearing isn't very good.
"We should keep moving," he says, "what do you think?"
I glance towards where Caprice is standing in the same frozen position I am. "What's Caprice said?"
Ari snorts and waves a hand. "She isn't the boss," he says dismissively.
It takes me some time to realize what he's implying.
One, Caprice isn't the boss. Who even made her the boss? She basically did a Scorpio thing and manipulated herself into the position of queen.
Two, Ari has appointed himself the boss. I shouldn't be surprised, since he and Caprice consider us their subjects and they think themselves the ruler. They argue a lot about who rules us.
Three, Ari's asking me for advice? Me? The Deadpool that's addicted to setting things on fire? Ari thinks I have a clue on escaping ... whatever that is?
I swallow, trying to compose my thoughts as I lean against Ari slightly. He doesn't mind. "Well, do we have a physical map?" I ask. "'Cause I haven't been in Zalis long enough."
"Oh, yeah, ask Vienna. She probably does," says Ari.
"I think we should keep moving. I also think we should let Caprice know it's too risky for her to keep going to work ... and we need to figure out where to camp out."
"I think that was obvious?" Ari says, glancing at me.
"Not to Caprice," I snort. "She's responsible."
"I heard that! And yes, I am!" Caprice yells. She's kneeling next to Leilani, trying to rig something. I have no idea where she got all of this rope, but trying to signal someone is the opposite of what we should do.
"We need a car, and we need a destination," I continue. Even I'm surprised by the authority in my voice. I try to channel it and keeping my voice from dipping into a whisper like it always does when I'm in the spotlight.
"So we hitchhike?" asks Ari with a grimace. "I'm so not for it."
"Yeah!" I have no idea how Gemi heard our conversation, but he bounds over. Is it my imagination or does he look a lot more on edge than he should, even with Leilani's situation. "I read a lot of books about serial killers —"
