Prologue

Maithili's Pov

There was nothing new about today's morning but like every other morning I was looking forward for my day.

I entered the school's main gate and noticed in my way that there were new flower buds blossoming in the school garden...—reminding me that there was only one week left for spring flower festival.

"Good morning, Ma'am!" One of students greeted with a warm smile in the corridor.

"Good morning" I replied with a smile.

"Maithili, wait!" I turned back and saw my best friend waving me to stop.

"Megha, what happened to you?" I asked scanning her. She was breathing heavily.

"He—is...coming here.."  she said breathing every word and I looked at her in confusion as I couldn't understand her.

"You know what...first a take a breath then say.." I suggested.

"Oho! Listen na! The royal family is coming here to invite students and teachers
for their heir's crown ceremony!"

I stared at her in utter surprise.

It's has been 4 years since they had announced the coronation ceremony and it got postponed every year, for two years and now this sudden news.

"I think they are going to postpone it again.." I said collecting my thoughts.

"No...I heard principal ma'am talking to royal secretary on the phone....she confirmed that it's 100% true, I swear!"

"So his highness has finally decided to get married then but why?"

"That's not even a question...he had to decide that sooner or later...The ceremony is in two weeks..and his marriage is happening by end of this week." Megha chripped with excitement.

"Well...if it's true we will know this in our announcement... anyway I gotta go.." I said and left for my class.

Aahil's pov

I paced restlessy in my room, thinking that there was no way out of this situation. I don't want to get married but I have to in order to have a queen and a heir —Or I will loose everything...my family most importantly... because if I don't claim my crown now then it'll be passed down to my cousin and he'll ruin everything!

"Crown prince Aahil..her Majesty is summoning you in her royal chamber.

"I'll be there..."

"Mom...?"

"Aahil beta..your father and I had sent invitations to our family and friends and to our business investors. Now this is your turn to go for a tour and invite your future bride for upcoming ceremony..." She said with a smile.

"Mom.."

"And yes we have chosen five houses to be your potential in-laws..now is your turn to invite them personally...and choose your queen."

I took a breath.. "As you wish, mom."

Composing my thoughts I exited the room and went for a walk in the garden.

Two days later...

After going state to state to invite potential houses, I went to some local schools that were founded by our house to invite them also.

"Good morning everyone, I am Crown Prince Aahil, here to invite you all for my marriage and coronation ceremony. I hope you all will come and join us on this auspicious moment."  As I finished saying I handed the mic to the principal and after a while I said bye to the students who were very happy see to me.

As I was leaving my eyes unknowingly glanced at someone and then looked in different direction.

My heart sank for a moment until I looked back the person once again who was busy talking about something and was too distracted to notice me.

"Who's that?" I asked the principal.

"Umm she's is a high school Science teacher, Miss Maithili Joshi." The principal replied with a puzzled look.

I looked at her again now I saw her looking at me while she giggled when a lady standing near her whispered something in her ear.

"Mr. Shekhar, I want you send this invitation on my behalf." I ordered.

"But your highness this invitation is only for the—

"I know...and I want you to send this invitation. Not to question my decision!" I interrupted firmly and left the room.
