Aahil' pov

I watched him looking at her like he was influenced by her mere presence. Wherever she went his eyes followed her in the crowd. I have never seen him like this before. And honestly I hated him even more for this.

Maithili is such an amazing person, who's not only kind but also honestly courageous. She handled the remarks of people against her in a such graceful manner that I can only respect her for it.

Mom is not against her but she wants a bride for me that not only could fit as my wife but also as the queen. And I am sure Maithili will prove it.

"Crown Prince!" Maithili glanced at me and then at Raghav, who was still holding her hand. I raised my brow in question and in return I saw him simply raging, which made me chuckle.

I moved closer and whispered in his ear. "Let her hand go...she's mine!"
I saw her hand sliping from his hand.

"May I?" I glanced at Maithili.

"Of course!" She smiled softly.

Raghav's pov

I was raging but I didn't know why?

He was right. Once Maithili gets selected as his bride then she will become his!

But inside me there was a war going on..of letting her go or not!

I never believe in love or marriage but whenever I see her I feel something heavy in my chest. And every day it's getting heavier...

"Ladies and gentlemen, as you are aware of that there was a breach of security in our last ball...due to that incident we had to switch to more private events...the selection of the bride will be based on 4 things —over next 4 days. Each day all the participating potential brides will be given a task to complete these 5 things. The 4 things that they will be tested on ...are —culinary skills, dance, Art and courage." The announcer said.

"Whoever will excel in these 4 things will be chosen as the bride of crown Prince." The announcer stated.

"I can cook, dance and I have really good art skills.. but I don't know what courage is about!?!" I heard one of the chosen ladies say.

"How would you know lady Aarohi, you are not a Royal?!" Princess Mandakini chuckled. "Only a royal will know!" She remarked venomously.

"Princess Mandakini it doesn't actually matter...since crown Prince has his eyes set on lady Maithili...I mean look at her." Princess Rati said pointing toward Aahil who was sitting with Maithili and laughing about something.

"Mr. Rathore...there you are!" Princess Aria said with a wide smile.

"Princess Aria..."

"Can I have a word with you please?" She replied suddenly being all serious.

"Sure! Have a seat." I said pulling a chair for her.

"Thank you.." she said settling down. "Umm so I don't know how to say this..but are you down for some business talk?...

"I am on a holiday Princess Aria.."

"Just listen to me for once please...then you can decide..." She sounded serious which was very unlike of her.

"Okay go on.."

Maithili's pov

"Prince Aahil..I think it's not a good idea that you are spending all the time with me.." I replied reluctantly as I noticed all other potential bride staring at in our direction.

He followed my gaze. "The selection starts tomorrow...today they are just guests... from tomorrow everything will start...so let's leave all of these worries for tomorrow and just enjoy today!"

"Prince Aahil...Mr. Sharma is here.." a guy around same age as Prince Aahil informed.

"Okay, I'll be there."

"Maithili...please excuse me and I'll see you tomorrow at the event! All the best!"

"Thank you, your highness."

Awhile later I headed toward my room as I felt really tired. Suddenly as I was walking upstairs my heel snapped and I lost my balance.
"Lady Maithili!" I felt relived as soon as I realized that I am not dead!

"Can you be little more careful??!" He said angrily.

"Mr. Rathore—

"I don't wanna hear it..what if you had fallen from those stairs?!"

"Thank you for saving me!" I said.

"What's happening here?"

"Umm Well my heel just snapped—but Mr. Rathore here just saved me from falling!" I replied nervously.

"Are you okay, lady Maithili?!" Prince Aahil asked concernedly.

"Umm yes! I am fine—aa!" I suddenly felt sharp pain as I moved.
"Can you watch it? Don't move..let me help you—

"It's okay Mr.Rathore...thank you for help...but from here on I'll take care of her.. good night!"

"As you say, your highness!" He replied. "Good night, lady Maithili! Please take care!" He said.

Raghav's pov

"Good night Mr. Rathore." She replied softly as she let go of my hand.

"Maithili may I?" He inspected her foot and saw bluish-purplish mark and little bit swelling. He slowly picked her up in his arms and walked her towards her room.

As I started to walk away I accidentally stepped on something—her anklet that was lying on the floor. I picked it up and glanced at it. The bells on it were slightly broken. I glanced back at the floor and saw the broken bells and pick them up.

"Something you lost?" I was startled and immediately placed the anklet in my pocket before anyone could see it.

"Sorry?" I asked without being suspicious.

"I...I am..I am Princess Rati!" She walked toward me.

"Raghav Singh Rathore!" I extend my hand toward her.

"Hi!" She replied. "Are you a royalty as well?" She asked.

"No."

"Oh, I thought..."

"Can I help you?" I irritably asked her.

"Umm no, thank you.."

"Alright then , good night your highness!" I immediately left her sight.
