❤️ Merry Christmas 🌲🌟

Raghav's pov

4 months later...

After returning from Dehradun for the first time in my life I felt like my life was empty..like I was lonely.. contemplating my urge to go back there and bring her with me; was now becoming very serious. But I knew I couldn't.

"Mr. Awasthi...your son is getting married right?" I asked my PA.

"Y-Yes sir..why do you ask? If you don't mind me asking?" He asked in surprise.

"I-I saw your application..so I was just curious." I clear my throat.

"How did you find the girl for Vivaan?" I continued.

"Umm well she's my friend's daughter so we just went to their house to ask her hand for marriage." He replied thoughtfully.

"Oh that's great, congrats!"

"Thank you, sir." He smiled. "Sir, there's one more thing I forgot to inform you about....you have meeting with Princess Rati in the afternoon at 2:30 pm."

'Princess Rati?'

"What's the purpose of this meeting?"

"The upcoming hotel project." He stated looking through his notes.

"Alright."

____

2 hrs later...

"Mr. Rathore?" She entered the cabin.

"Please come in Princess Rati."  I said. "Please have a seat!"

"Thank you."

"What brought you here?!"

She stayed silent for more than a minute.

"Princess Rati?"

"Yes...I am sorry...it just I don't how to say?"

"Well...you came here to discuss something about the hotel project right?!" I asked going through the meeting notes.

"Yes—no...yes..I mean—

"Princess Rati please feel free to ask or say anything. I am the head of this project...so please share your thoughts with ease."

"I am sorry, Mr. Rathore." She closed her eyes  for second like she was rewinding this conversation in her mind. "I came here to ask if you'd be interested into dating?.."

I exactly knew where she was going with this question.

"No,Princess Rati" I replied.

"Why? Are you seeing someone?" She asked again.

"No,"

"Then if you could give a try—
"—Sorry Princess Rati but I am not interested."

"Is it because of that I was a potential bride?!" She stood up from the chair.

I didn't reply or said anything but simply watched her.

"I never even had a proper conversation with him! It's been four months...he and his family chose her. She's there in the palace! And I am here looking for you! I am a Princess damn it but still I booked an proper appointment to see you!" Tears rolled down her cheek.

I sighed and stood up from my seat.

"Here...take this." I passed her the tissue box.

She hesitated for a bit but then took out a tissue and dabbed her tears.

"So they got married after all?" I asked with heaviness but I didn't let it show.

"N-no...he's out the country! She's kept in the palace...no one knows when they'll get married. A part of me jealous of her that she got selected but a part of me pities her."

As soon as I heard that my heart sank.
'Why do I think something is going on that I am not aware of?!'

"But they didn't show on news or anything?!"

"Do you even follow news?! Even if you do! You wouldn't find it!"

"What do you mean?!" I asked.

"No one knows anything! The day Maithili was selected...she wanted to run away somewhere atleast that's what I heard that day when she was talking to Aria..maybe because she was overwhelmed with whatever happened.. the fire and all."

"If you really wanted to marry Prince then suddenly why date me?!" I asked.

"I really liked you...I wanted to ask you for so long....but I was tied to my Princess duties!" She rolled her eyes like she was annoyed by something.

"So they didn't get married!?"

"No! She's just living in that palace. There were no official announcement of her being selected to the public or anything for that matter!" She paused for a moment. "But why are you so curious about them?"

"Nothing..anyway...i have to go...I have something important right now..." I grabbed my coat from my chair and left.

Maithili's pov

"Lady Maithili, dinner is ready." A maid informed me.

"I'll be there!"  I replied.

I grabbed my dupatta and headed to the dinner hall.

For past months since I got selected I have been living in this palace I am not allowed to go anywhere without royal security. My parents comes to visit me here but I am not allowed to go back to my home.

I still remember when I woke up in the hospital. My parents were sitting by my side and I remembered asking about him.
When they said that he left I felt like something heavy in my heart.

For the last time I wanted to thank him...but now I couldn't.

I sat down and poured myself some water before I took a bite of my food. I look around me and find no one but servants ready to serve me.
After the dinner I went back to my room.

Suddenly I heard some footsteps echoing from down the hall until it approached to my room door. I grabbed my dupatta and hurriedly placed it on my shoulder and came out of my room.

"Sorry for the wait, Princess!" My heart leaped a beat when I heard the familiar voice.
