Maithili's pov

He just said those words with such an ease that I couldn't register how can he fall in love with me?!

"You don't mean that do you?!" I asked him like an idiot.

"Of course I do!" He replied with a smile.

"How?! And why?!"

"How could I not fall in love with you...and why wouldn't I?! You are everything I need, Maithili. That day you just didn't walk in my room but also in my heart too...it broke my heart when I got to know that you are going to be— he closed his eyes and paused.

"Raghav..?" I gently touched his face and he opened his eyes. His eyes were slightly glossy like he had tears in his eyes. My heart ached at this sight. "After that fire incident when I took you to hospital I realized that I had feelings for you—that I loved you all along. But I also knew that it was impossible for us to be together...so before you could wake up—I called your parents and I left as soon as possible."

"I wanted to meet you!" I said. "I asked my parents about you."

Raghav's pov

"I wanted to meet you." She spoke softly."I asked my parents about you."

I couldn't utter a word but kept glancing at her.

"After I woke up..the first thing I did was to ask about you! No one knew where you were!? When I went back to palace—I asked crown Prince Aahil about you. I told him how important it was for me to meet you. But he said that he doesn't know where you were and he told me that he'll try his best to convey my "thank you" to you." She paused for a sec.

"But he couldn't. Few days later someone again tried to attack him so the queen told him to go out of country for six months or so and then they'll continue the marriage—at this point there were no official announcement about the bride and I also didn't have any idea until Princess Aria told me that I was selected. I told her that I wanted to leave but she stopped me—saying that it would put my family in danger... which was why I stayed in that palace otherwise I was ready to withdraw!" She looked in my eyes as spoke.

"I am sorry Maithili...for leaving without meeting you!"

"No, please dont say that!—I was extremely relieved when you came looking for me....I was happy to see you there that day...and—I am not sure if it is love yet. But I am very sure that I want you in my life, Raghav."

As soon as those words came out of her mouth I embraced her in a warm hug. I was feeling something unexplainably blissful in my heart and being wrapped in her arms brought me immense peace and inner happiness.

2 weeks later

"Bhaisa please contact me soon." I read the text that was sent by Rohil. I kept my phone on office table in my study room.

"Raghav sir! —Ma'am—- Suddenly one of the servant came running in.

"What happened?!" I asked.

"Mrs Rathore...she...

I immediately ran in the hall and was shocked

"Happy birthday!!!" The whole house staff and my wife said in unison.

"Maithili!"

Maithili's pov

He looked at us in pure surprise and also with relief on his face as he focused his eyes on me!

"Happy birthday Raghav!" I walked up to him and held his hand and led him toward the table where we all had arranged the birthday cake.

"How did you know?" He asked.

"Because of this!" I showed him his passport. "I was arranging the cupboard 5 days ago and it fell and I checked it. Then I saw your birthdate—it stated that it's on April 9–which is today!!" I smiled brightly. "Now don't waste the time and cut the cake!!" I handed him the knife.

Raghav's pov

I blowed the candles and cut the cake. A tear fell from my eyes as remembered my parents and the memories I shared with them. After almost 2 decade I had celebrated my birthday and it felt heartwarmingly amazing thanks to this girl whom I love the most!

"Raghav!!" She took a small piece of cake and smeared it slightly on my cheek and nose. "Happy birthday!"

Before she could register anything I immediately smeared the cake on her face too and she glanced amusedly at me. Everyone started to clap and laugh as they witnessed this side of me

"Mr. Rathore..someone is here to meet you!"

"Okay I'll be there!" I replied.

"Maithili...just a moment." I said excusing myself and left.

I walked out of the house and saw someone standing by the main gate.

"Rohil! What are you doing here?!"

"It's time to come home bhaisa!" He replied.
