Melanie

Soft murmurs interrupt my haze of sleep, my eyes refusing to open voluntarily. I force them open, groaning at the sudden light before shutting them quickly again. The small piece of light that snuck in bounds around my brain, scratching the brain cells that feel like they've been switched off. I roll over on my soft bed, my bones creaking in sync to the mattress.

"Mel, are you awake?" I keep my eyes closed, resting my forearms on my forehead.

"If I'm not dead, then yes."

Soft laughs echo around the room, before I feel the bed dip beside me. Someone places their hand on my forehead, finally forcing my eyes open.

"Well, at least you don't have a fever." Lera says, my eyes scrunching together to try and block out as much light as possible.

"How much did I drink last night?" I ask, running my fingers through my knotty hair.

"Alot. You ran off after a while, so we're not entirely sure. But... when we found you, you were acting a little... weird." Persephone adds, both her and Natalie coming into view from behind Lera.

Although I barely have any recollection of last night, a weird, almost dream-like thought comes to mind.

"Did I do anything particularly weird last night? I can't really remember anything." I peek through my eyes, watching as my friends stifle laughs.

"Well, once we raced around the house trying to find you, you started screaming about having the 'best kiss of your life' or something like that. Does it ring a bell? Oh, and then you started quoting old episodes of America's Next Top Model, as well as reciting the periodic table, but that's not important." Natalie says, raising her eyebrow slightly.

I think hard, searching through my mind of memories. I close my eyes, a faint outline of last night hitting me.

I remember getting to the party, and running straight into Bailey. I remember him pouring us drinks, but then nothing after.

Wait...

Bailey... did something happen-

"OH MY GOSH! SHIT!" I sit up suddenly, the pounding in my head only intensifying. Lera eases me back down, as my hands go to cover my pounding head.

"What's wrong?" Persephone asks, nudging my arm. I peek through my eyes again, gratefully taking the bottle of water she's holding out to me. I take a sip, fresh memories connecting in my fried brain.

"I think... I think I kissed Bailey." I stutter out, groaning as I take another sip of the cool water.

"What?"

"Thinking back, I faintly remember running into some people playing 7 minutes in heaven or something. And... I remember kissing him, and I think it was definitly him because of the voice. I remember his voice. Shit!"

"Hey, it's okay. I saw him talking to people like... 25 minutes before we left, and he looked pretty drunk. He probably doesn't even remember." Natalie reassures me, touching a warm hand to my shoulder.

"Ugh. I feel like vomiting my brain out." Snickers bounce off of the walls of my small room, causing me to groan once again.

"No, don't tell me I already did. Where?"

I watch as Lera picks a small, thankfully empty bucket up off of the ground, placing it under my face as Persephone eases me to a sitting position.

"Christian's back. And the grass outside the science buildings, the one near the frat house." Lera explains, stifling a laugh as I cover my eyes with my hand. Another wave of nausea hits me, and before I can warn anyone, I vomit into the bucket. Someone grabs my hair as someone else rubs my back, my stomach churning. Once I'm done emptying myself of alcohol I'm passed a tissue, which I swipe over my mouth.
